Word of the Riddick and The Darkness dev's involvement with the title first made the rounds last October. Possibly related is a new casting call posted on superannuation for actors in an upcoming "futuristic" Starbreeze/EA title called "DART," which according to the post will be set in a "high tech city."

Though nothing has been formally announced, sources tell GI.biz that the Syndicate series is behind EA and Starbreeze's mysterious Project RedLime, which was originally referred to as a "classic franchise" for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

While that project was said to be "already deep in development" in February 2008, don't expect to revisit the classic cyberpunk series anytime soon. According to the report, the new Syndicate title won't be released until Starbreeze finishes up its current project based on Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne. Until then, the four gentlemen in the corner giving us the crazy eyes will just have to wait.

God, I hope not. I can see why they might think a tactical FPS, like Rainbox Six, might work but I would much prefer an RTS-lite. Like, you know, the other games.

We debated this over Live and I was told that Gears was not an FPS. If Gears isn't, Dead Space isn't either.

And Mirror's Edge isn't really an FPS as it doesn't have very much S.

I've given this precisely 30 seconds drunken thought and I can't see how it can work, other than doing it in a L4D fashion where it focuses on 4 or more player coop and you go out into this Blade Runner style dystopian city and do you're nefarious deeds.

Think

The scale of GTAIV
The manouvrabilty of Crackdown
The storytelling nous of Bioshack (they sell cheap consumer body parts)
and everything else from Syndicate
