Hi, favour needed.

Could y'all fill in this quick 8 question survey about the Nintendo Wii? It'll only take 2 minutes and you'll be helping me out a lot. Ta!

Question 3: there's no option for having had one in the past, but sold it for $PROFIT$ because it was pretty shit.

Thanks to all once again. I'm limited to 50 responses on the free survey but it should be enough to get an example data set. "20% of all geeks aged 25-34 LOVE the Wiimote"

Nirejhenge wrote:

I realise the answers were limited but it's a very small scale research project and I've cynically designed the survey to manufacture a result. By putting in 'other' or 'middle of the road' choices, you run the risk of getting useless data.

I'm lazy, see.

I'd have only charged a nominal fee and shat it out to 10,000 gamers. Never mind.

I've bumped up the potential respondents now, so if any of you fine chaps fancy pimping the survey anywhere else, that would be most useful.

I have done it, but I am not sure how much use this survey will be to you. There are limited explanations, so the response is subjective. I called myself a social gamer, because I don't think of myself as a hardcore gamer, but I play loads more than some people who would also put social gamer. In fact, what is the difference between a social, casual and occasional gamer?

Also, you may need some "meh/don't know" options in the agree/disagree questions, else people are forced to do one or the other (may be what you are after).

That bit's supposed to be subjective it's so I can say things like "20% of respondents define themselves as hardcore gamers"

That was what I was after, no middle ground

You are all excellent. I think asking here may have skewed the sample somewhat however :)

For example: Right now, 62% of respondents own a Wii. Is that a fair representation of the population at large?

I'm done with this now to. Thanks to all that responded.

Some interesting stats:
Out of the 91 respondents, 57 owned a Wii. That's 62.6% Yikes!
Among those that classed themselves as 'Hardcore Gamers', less than 19% agreed that the Wii Remote is the future of game controllers.
If look at the answers to the same question by self-defined 'Casual gamers', over 59% see it as the future.

Fractured market on the way?

I was interested in how this would pan out. I see "classic" style controllers and the Wiimote as being complementary, personally, rather than conflicting. There were those rumours we would see a motion sensing controller for the 360 and whilst they didn't pan out I wouldn't be shocked if the Xbox v3 had something like that.

Use a traditional pad in games where it makes sense and a motion sensing one in games were that makes sense.
