"Spoilt" is relative, though. I personally consider anyone who has a car bought for them (and I include "loans" from parents in that) to be spoilt. I was told that if I wanted a car, I could go out, get a job, and buy one. Which I did (£300 for an Austin Maestro, baby!), and intend to make the Grimlet do the same thing.

My mum has a friend with a son like that. He earns vastly more than her (I think he's on about £35k), and gives her a tenner a week if she's lucky, and often that's in coupons for supermarkets. His father is past his retirement age, and still working very long shifts to keep the family going.
