Been looking at various YouTube clips of both games (I'm not really interested in either title enough to obtain them and play them through myself), mainly the ones that compile all (or as many) of the possible death sequences into a handy montage or two.
Now, I often find myself thinking stuff like "Okay, that is so not accurate" or "That is just so OTT as to be hilarious!" - both contrasting opinions on other ends of the spectrum. It's weird - sometimes I think RE5 isn't bloody enough (in fact I swear Capcom actually toned the violence down somewhat compared to what you witnessed in RE4), other times I think Dead Space (for all its attempt at being as "horror"-like as possible, be it shock factor, gore factor et al) makes deaths look too, well, cartoony. Are your hero's body parts really that fragile against almost everything? It doesn't help that a lot of the action, it seems, takes place in the dark so you can't tell what just happened.
Don't take this as a serious opinion of either game - like I said I haven't played them, nor do I feel any desire to anytime soon. I just wanted to point out how easy it seems for someone like myself to not know just what to expect out of death scenes in the long run.
Meghle.

I killed a guy. I stabbed him through the heart with a trident.

I see people were confused about this thread. Let's just say I've always been fascinated by how many different death sequences developers could think of when doing an adventure/survival game. It's been like this ever since the old text adventures of the 80's.

Elvira on the Amiga had quite a few good ones.

Aye, I remember being freaked out by the kitchen death one when I first learnt about it.
Funny to think how Adventuresoft turned all (*guffaw*) soft since Simon The Sorcerer.
Of course, my interest in death sequences wasn't just limited to animated/graphic ones - I was always fascinated by discovering all the death descriptions in some of the Dizzy adventure titles.
