More pics. Think Phatom Hourglass minus boat plus train. FUCK YEAH.

EUROGAMER LIVE FEED

Rumours:
Most Unlikely: New 1st party titles by Mario/Zelda developers
More Likely: New WiiWare releases and Storage Solution

Facts:
WiiShop just this second went offline (apparently)
New System Update just happened.
Press can't film after first 5 mins.

A brief excitement followed by disappointment, shame and regret? LET'S SEE!

Are they planning on making any good games that are visible over the shovelware mountain?

If the prices on it were half what they are it may be worth it in some cases, but rarely. Why would I want to pay the same as a full new game* for a game which is 15 years old? Especially when I can run an emulator on any of my pieces of kit (including the wii) and get it for free.

* in some cases

Cue a Sony update that allows you to stand on your PS3 and use it as a balance board for upcoming 'PS3 Fit'

I'm getting a little tired of Zardoz's operating behaviour to be honest, Looking at his instruction manual it seems that he's stuck in the following do-loop.

10 FIND NINTENDO THREAD
20 CLICK IT
30 SHIT IN IT
40 GO TO 10

It's not like we don't agree with you, but it getting more depressing than the (lack of) games themselves.

Anyway - pleased they are bigging up Rhythm Heaven. For all the crap, it makes me very happy that they've pushed Prof Layton and now this at non-gamers. Because they are as 'proper' a game as you can get.

EDIT: Bobby, I'm talking about WiiWare, not the VC.

Now that's funny.

Single-purpose overpriced peripheral == Leading edge mainstream console.

SD card support > 2Gb is go too. It's nice they can do that in software, I'd worried it was a limitation of their SD controller chip.

oooh, they've finally caught up with the modders, you can now use SDHC 4Gb Cards.

Thank fuck for that. Bloody great news.

Also: sorry Zardoz, that comes across harsher than I meant reading it back.

The Gamecube was a gamers console, quality games in abundance that pushed the hardware further and further each time. I fully expected the Wii to carry on in this fine tradition, but it's a victim of it's own success, merely treading water on the back of countless muppets hoovering up second rate shite. It annoys me, sorry.

I'll stop with the star points comments, sooner or later.

I still love you Lave :luv:

If it's anything like the last one - fuck yes.

And that's it.

Sigh.

New Zelda DS is awesome news.

Can I just say that I do LOVE Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy on the Wii, so more of that please.

Having iPlayer is cool too.

That all completely true - except the part about quality games in abundance. The Gamecube got ace games - but really, really slowly. (The GC was the best console last gen - fact)

It just also got a lot of the third party games which are now stuck to the 360 & PS3 because 3rd parties are too busy not having to try for the Wii.

The Wii problem isn't Nintendo's fault, they are pumping out games at about the same rate as they did with the Gamecube, it's just no one else is.

It's just a pair of slippers made from lint-free polishing cloths, and the only game is "Super Log-Rolling Simulator". Good for your balance and keeps the grease-attracting fucker shiny-fresh.

Apparently this guy is a journo

He says: "To answer your Qs, no Zelda is not the big surprise. That comes later today."

But he also says the new software update will except SD cards up to 32Gb (which can't be true can it?) So that seems doubtful.

Surely if they had something else ready, they would announce it during the show.

And whats bigger than a new Zelda?

Why can't it be true? It'll just be whatever the counting limit of whatever number of bits SDHC is. 32GB is only 3 more bits than 4GB. 16GB SDHCs are out already aren't they?

I thought SDHC was limited to 8Gb. Hang on...just googled it. Yeah, SDHC supports up to 32Gb!! Fuck!!

My Wii can now have more storage than my current Xbox! FUCK!

Gah, I modded my Xbox for no real gain, so now I need to wait this out to see what I should do.

As someone who doesn't really know what you're all banging on about, does any of this have a chance of making an impression on me, or will the wife continue to sit in my living room collecting dust and getting turned on briefly once every three months?

Did I say wife? I meant Wii.

Moved down from repeated edits of my previous post:

SDHC has "a capacity range starting at 4GB and going up to 32GB"

SDXC is going up to 2TB, that'll need a new Wii to do I imagine.

"SDHC cards also have a maximum capacity of 2 TB based on the card data structures, but this is arbitrarily limited to 32 GB by the SD 2.0 document."

It's like XBox Live Arcade. Newly developed games rather than just ROMs of old games.

Of the top of my head, highlights are the brilliant 'World of Goo', the amazing 'Lost Winds' and the beautiful if repetitive Final Fantasy city building game.

Beat.Trip is also meant to be amazing (pong+rez)

I am thinking of getting a bigger SD card. Not found any great deals on the huge ones as of yet, but HMV sell a Sandisk 4gb one for £7.99, which PC World sell for £19.56, so pricematched that should be £6.83.

I am amazed that something as simple as this OS upgrade to accept running from SD cards has taken this long to implement, and what on earth they have gained by not doing it soon.

Here's a (partial) explanation: http://hackmii.com/2009/02/why-the-wii- ... ny-better/

Just checked the Shopping Channel, incidentally. There's four Namco arcade games for the VC. Yes, emulations of arcade games.

Online you should find 8gb at around £10 from both Amazon and Play with 16gb somewhere in the mid 20's

I very much suspect you are right, but a trailer for a game we know is coming isn't really a big huge newsbomb. Damn you Geoff.

Colour me surprised. They're actually - let me make sure my marbles are still intact - keeping The Yellow One at bay for a while longer? Usually they just pimp him out at the first opportunity for the easiest buck possible.

I don't believe they've released Star Force on any of the prior Namco Museums, which makes its inclusion on there another impressive feat. Gaplus only had one previous appearance before too, right?

Marz: No, but one of them is yet another version of Tower of Fucking Druaga.

Druaga may not be popular with some, but it still hasn't been whored out anywhere near as much as the four I mentioned.

I'm still waiting for a Namco Museum that brings together all of the more obscure stuff from later PS1 Museums and Encore, not to mention bring back the original Arrangement titles, not the horrendously fugly remakes they greenlighted and felt fit to chuck into the PSP and 360 packs. PacMan Arrangement and Galaga Arrangement in particular, are the finest rejigs of both games I've ever seen. And the music, sweet motherlover the music....

Had the flashing blue light on the Wii this morning so I figured I'd update it.

First Wii remote.. batteries dead.
Second remote.. batteries also dead.
Pinch some from a 360 controller, start up the Wii.. no messages.
Figured I'd do a system update anyway which decided to 'test' the connection for five or ten minutes
Restarted the console, tried the update again and it worked
After the reboot, got the message about the update. Thanks Nintendo!

I haven't looked in the VC shop for a while but I noticed that Wonder Boy in Monsterland is there - I hope WB III - The Dragon's Trap appears at some point.

Announce Super Mario Galaxy 2 and I may be more interested. I need to go back and play SMG again actually.

Are they giving me back my stars though?

Nah, I meant the Awesome Massive Multi-platform News that the games journalist was squee-ing himself over?

But he also says the new software update will except SD cards up to 32Gb (which can't be true can it?) So that seems doubtful.

Meh - they've tested the N95 with (pretend) 2TB micro-SD cards and it worked.
Being able to download games onto SD is good, but it's something that should have been there from the start, TBH. None of the games excite me that much :(
