POP 1 and 2 were great. Can we just rerelease those to work with XP and Vista?

SOT is probably my favorite 3d platform game ever. Didn't like any of the sequels.

I've just realised that popuw website has POP 1 and 2 to download - most, most excellent.

The Flash game is an against the clock, do such and such within 8 minutes minigame.

SOT was the best multiplatform game made last gen.

WW was an abomination.

TT was an apology for WW that had to spend the whole game working itself out of the mess WW made. The speed kills were great though.

Overall: SOT >>>>>>>>> TT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boosh >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WW

Sands of Time fans! Get TMNT for the Xbox 360 (or, I think, the PS3 or PS2), on the cheap. Not only is it a splendidly easy run for achievement whores, it's also a rather good SoT-me-do by Ubisoft.

Tell 'em Hawk! Dimrill.

The original creator of POP was involved in SOT, then he left.

Your views may not be coincidence.

Yeah, I was quite entertained by the TMNT game when I had to buy it as a "2 for £30" thing at Game when I first got my Xbox. It was the only semi interesting game I could find to go along with Burnout Revenge. Amazingly decent. And very easy with the achievement points too.

Hmmm, been a bit of talk about the new Prince of Persia scattered about. With Dimmers, LewieP and others proclaiming it to be crap.

I've played the first 2 or 3 hours, and I actually think it's quite good so far.

I find it quite interesting that everything wrong with it is because they listened to idiot fans on forums. The main one being that they've made it open world. I really, really, really wish the general 'gamer' would understand that they actually like linear games. Sure they think they like open world games because of wonderful examples like GTA and Crackdown. But that doesn't mean it improves any game it is crammed into.

I've seen people moan that the fact you can't die is what has made it too easy. And it really isn't. It's the fact that you no longer enter a room and think to yourself "how the fuck am I going to get through this" but then against all odds you manage it. That is the challange - and it's now absent. The open world leveling the difficulty curve doesn't help either.

The other main flaw is that they've really loosened the timing window for your commands. I see why they've done it, but they've really messed up the natural flow of the game. The way you can jump, slide into the wall for a bit and then after a moment too long the wall run starts is a real insult to the heritage they have.

Saying all that, the game is fucking beautiful (bar the Prince who is a slightly off base) and the voice work is much better than I initially thought. The combat has improved (though the lack of speed kills is a shame) and they are still fixated with too many combos rather than realising the purity of a system like Zelda uses).

It's a strange one, and I'll probably rambled more as I get further in, but Sands of Time is probably the game I hold dearest too me and this isn't the insult I expected it to be.

I played it for a few hours, and didn't hate it. But I had absolutely no desire to bother picking it up again after the first time.

It's been sitting as one of my offers on Goozex since I registered and still hasn't attracted any prime suckas.

3 main "bosses" which you have to defeat 3 times, in between which you have to scrabble around in a collect-em-up light seed hunt to progress killed it for me. That and the lack enemies to hit with a stick.

Yes. But if you are doing so to criticize my point of view I want right to reply! :)

So far I would give the game a 'C' but as in a good fun to play C.

I think PoP is suffering because of the expectations of people who play it. I never played SoT, because I don't particularly like platformers. And I really, really enjoyed the new one.

Its like a really good ambient album. Its the most relaxing gaming experience I've ever had. But because the previous albums were thrash metal, everyone's hatin' on it.

Cool, beans. Enjoy.

I'ld bet a tenner that my post will be able to be pretty much reused when the sequel to mirror's edge comes out too. :(

The first paragraph is certainly true. But the second isn't. I really, really recommend you pick up Sands of TIme. Not to try and prove it to you, or any of that crap. It's just you'll really, really love it. And it still looks beautiful. SoT isn't thrash metal. It's a wonderful relaxing experience too. It's just WW and TTT that raped it.

Talking of which I just realised something about SoT. If they had the confidence to take out the combat completely - It would have been portal.

I thought it was absolutely bloody awful, and I haven't played any of the last-gen trilogy.
Mind you, the point could be made that I hate almost everything anyway.

I wish they had done - it was the combat that stopped me playing it.

The combat was pretty poor, but thankfully minor.

PROTIP: The combat can be made a cake walk with these two simple strategies.

1) Never, ever fight the easy, little, guys. Normally you have about 3 or 4 people to fight simultaneously. When you kill one he is replaced by anouther from a stock of enemies that you to work through to finish the combat bit. You always want to kill the 'hardest' monster available, and leave the easy ones until the last possible moment.

Otherwise you end up with 3 really hard bad guys at the same time. When you should be fighting them individually, whilst juggling minor bad guys.

I actually really enjoyed the strategy needed to manipulate the combat. Rather than remember combos you had to juggle who you would let spawn. It was clearly intentional and a result of the fact that you choose when to kill enemies with the dagger, allowing for carefully juggling. But they didn't explain it well at all.

2) Jumping of the wall is an instant knockdown. As is running up a wall and vaulting over them. If the combat is annoying you can just spam those attacks to win any battle pretty much.

I actually quite liked the combat. It was a simple brawer to de-stress after the puzzles.
