I've got the Hellraiser boxset, but I've only seen the first film, embarrassingly. I really enjoyed it, though.

I vote yes, particularly at around the 30 quid mark.
(resi that is)

The hellraiser films seem to be on TV every other week if you have the sci fi channel so you could just wait for that.

It's good but looks horribly dated in places.

I posted my Resi 5 review elsewhere. Not that it was particularly insightful or anything.

All the Hellraisers are a bit shit, although the nanobytes are pretty memorable characters. If you want an interesting mid-80s horror film, go for In the Company of Wolves.

They're better than the Nightmare on Elm Street films, at any rate.

Hellraiser : BOSTIN
Hellraiser 2: BOSTIN
Hellraiser 3: Shit shit shit shit shit. When Hollywood took over and Clive Barker was shat upon.
Hellraiser 4: In Space semi-alright
Hellraiser 5 "Hellbound": Craig Scheffer led, best one of the direct to video releases, nicely twisted.
Hellraiser 6: Unintelligable shite
Hellraiser 7 & 8, haven't watched since they were apparently written as other films, but then had pinhead crowbarred into them to make them Hellraisers.

I've seen up to 4. I only watched 3 cos Terry Farrelll was in it though :) and then only watched 4 cos I'd seen 3.

I have the boxset of the first 4. Had no idea there were more.

I didn't much like the Hellraiser movie, and I like Clive Barker. The kilobytes looked cool, but that was about it.

Yeah, and I managed to wrong up the name like an ARSE.

Hellraiser Inferno was the good Craig Sheffer one.
Then Hellseeker was 6, starred the original woman who played Geoffess, and was shite
7 and 8 were "Deader" and "Hellworld" respectively,
and there's a 9th called "Prophecy" made in 2006 which I was unaware of.

Meh. Remake's been touted for the last 8 years at least, doubt it'll ever actually materialise. Horror's not "in".

Saw's direct to video now though. It's only commercially viable that way.

I thought Saw was pretty good.

It's not really any different to gory horror though, is it? It's "enjoying" the adrenaline from being scared/disgusted.

Anyone who watches that sort of thing and goes "coooool!" is weird as, mind.

Also, no protagonist = yawn

I think 'cool' about the Saw films - mainly because I think the setups are quite ingenious. It's not about the blood, it's about the choices.

:this: They're not just straight-out gore fests. As each new one comes out, the link between each one seems to get a bit more stretched so I hope they stop making them soon so I can go and get a definitive box set of it all.

Aside from the minor name mixups, this is exactly on the button. Be sure to see the proper version of 2, as there at least used to be a heavily cut version available that spoils the fun.

Please, please avoid 3 at all costs. There's some laughable 'new' cenobites introduced, one of which kills people with CDs. Another one has a camera embedded in its head. Cenobite one-liners are rife. Don't be tempted into thinking it's so bad it's good either, its just atrocious shite through and through.

Inferno really is ace though, loved it. So, I'll second the "1,2 & Inferno(5), skip the rest" option.
