Day Five

It's a new day, it's a new dawn, it's a new life for me... and I'm feelin' good!

Alas, there are some people who are not feelin' good right now.

One of them is Craster.

He's dead.

Searches of his apartment seem to bring about nothing but stuffed badgers, and stuffed with... OH DEAR GOD THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!

Despite the perversions, Craster was a Townie

But there's more than one person missing. There's a second, I'm afraid.

His house contained books on making walls, several strange manuscripts of ancient oaths and a framed picture of the dearly departed Goddess Jasmine.

Adios, Mr Dom.

Mr Dom was a Masonic Townie

Thus ends the fourth... oh no, hang on just a second.

We're missing someone else.

Oh yes, there he is... or rather there's his corpse.

Bobbyaro, all dead and covered in slime. His own slime you understand.

He's dead.

And Bobbyaro was an Evil Alien

Oh, it's all up for grabs now...

With just 10 people remaining, 6 votes are required for a lynch, or 8 votes for no lynch.

Day Five will end at Midday on Wednesday, or when a decision is reached.

6 votes for a lynch. There are 1-2 Mafia, 1-3 aliens, 6-9 townies. Careful now with the early voting.

So now Grim... must be above suspicion. Scully must've killed Bobby. Hmmmm... unless he was the Host Alien and used his thingummy wotsit.

Good point Doc, too many games have been lost by someone throwing in an early vote. Can't see how the aliens and mafia will coordinate a bandwagon though, so it shouldn't be an issue today. Still need to be careful though.

it says he was an evil alien as opposed to the host. So I guess it must've been scully. Can you confirm that Curio?

Yeah, sorry, you're right. The Host Alien can't have used their Coby Dick.

I think we'd know if Bobbyaro was a discarded host, can you confirm Curio?

I suspect both the mafia and the aliens thought the other team would kill Grim... and that's why he's still standing.

I thought that, but it just occurred to me that Grim... (who we now all know is townie) might have already been recruited to the mafia. Of course, he might not, but it's just a thought.

Yeah, it was Dudley. Beginning of Day 3.

Myp is really pushing the Grim... is above suspicion element.

I think he and Grim... are the 2 mafia bods that Duds recruited.

I think Grim... is the hitman and I think myp is a bodyguard.

I think given this, Grim... decided to reveal that he knew who morte was, so that Myp could protect him.

That's what I think.

Grim... could be mafia. Consider the following scenario:

Night one, he has a BA vision targetted at Morte. Night 2 he is recruited. Day 3 he starts shouting "hey, BA, I'm a Townie". Night 3 the BA dies. Day 4 he roleclaims and is right about Morte, potentially putting him in the clear for the rest of the game.

This would mean he's either a mafia roleblocker or a bodyguard.

If the BA hadn't wound up dead night 3 he would have known Grim... was lying, but wouldn't have been able to do much about it. He has no allies and with his BA win condition he can't roleclaim.

I don't know how likely this is. It's some very smart play from Grim... if this is what happened.

Hmmm, an interesting theory. Wrong, but interesting. Perhaps I should have put a question mark at the end of "So now Grim... must be above suspicion", as I was kind of seeking reassurance from others on this.

With the BA dead, we're not going to get any decent info about baddies, are we?

This is very convincing. Almost... too convincing.

But it's the sort of excellently devious play I'd expect from a Dudley-led Mafia team.

However - why didn't Grim.. shout about Morte in day 2 then, while he's still a goody?

I find Malcs post very odd. Pretty convinced Grim... is a good guy after yesterday.

Not voting yet though, let's wait until everyone else turns up like the Doc says.

So, with 11 people left, what are the likely numbers of the different factions?

And what power roles are left?

As the Mannequin Maker, he may have decided he's too valuable to risk his neck. The MM was very useful to have around in the event of a Scully roleclaim.

The more I think about this the more convinced I am. Grim... started shouting on Day 3 about being a townie and can the BA target him. I think he mentioned it 2-3 times.

Malc is right too -- Grim... could be the hitman and have no received the BA vision, and a second Mafia target recruited on night 2 could have received the vision on night 1 and told Grim... about it. This would also tie in to why his shouting for the BA started on Day 3.

1-2 Evil Aliens
1 Alien Host

1 Mafia Hitman (for sure)
0 or 1 Mafia Roleblocker or Bodyguard
(it seems very unlikely the Mafia recruited a second killer and didn't make a second hit tonight)

1-2 Masons
1 Scully

3-6 Townies

Grim... said yesterday that he was contacted "last night", have I missed the bit where he knew Morte was an alien from night one onwards?

The theory is either he or a second Mafia guy received the vision night 1, couldn't do anything about it day 2, and was recruited night 2. He would have been lying about when he received the vision to establish his bona fides.

If you'd known on night 1 Morte was an Alien, what would you have done day 2? It's early in the game to be sticking out neck out, particularly if you are townie with a minor power role and you don't want to be offed in a retalitory hit... if you're the Mannequin Maker, for instance.

Fair enough, I've struggled to have a proper read the last few days, so I'm just trying to work out why we're assuming he got the vision on night 1.
I agree that he wouldn't have stuck his neck out straight away though.

Because of the night action order. Recruit happens before Psychic, and Mafia cannot receive visions. If this theory is correct the BA had to tell either Grim... or an unknown Mafia cohort (and I agree myp looks suspicious) that Morte was an alien on night 1.

What zaphod said is correct. There are only 10 players as I forgot to remove Morte.

Also, I will specify which Alien is Host, should he/she/it die.

I see what you're getting at now (ie. I've re-read yesterday's thread ;) ).
Grim... would have had to receive the vision while still a townie, so could easily still be a townie.

Looks like Grim... is in the clear, although the theory he may have been recruited and has played us all for fools is certainly compelling and devious enough that it would work.

I was going to suggest that we lynch Grim... on the basis that we have enough people left alive that we can chance losing one of our own if it results in the death of a bad guy, but having just re-read the numbers Craster posted on page 1... err... we can't, so I'm not sure what to do now.

Scully clearly hit the mark last night, so well done to her.

The two aliens that have been discovered so far have been relatively quiet throughout the entire game. I certainly don't remember reading a post by Dudley as often as I would have done before, made harder by his lack of an avatar of course. Has Mr Russell posted much? I don't remember him posting much these last few game days.

Malc seems to be chucking accusations around willy nilly today.

He's been doing that since day one.

Come on this is about the 10th similar vote you've done this whole game. Someone else makes an accusation you add a vote to the list to try and get it going.

This tag-team stuff isn't helping the "myp and Grim... are both in the Mafia" voice in my head you know.

I want to lynch one of them. Grim... did us a good turn yesterday, and could easily be telling the truth.

If myp turns up not-Mafia we're in trouble, but I don't have anything more concrete to go on: does anyone? If he turns up Mafia I suspect the Aliens will off Grim... tonight (seeing as how he's their biggest threat), and we're in quite a strong position, depending on how many aliens are left.

Why do you keep jumping on me?

If you re-read posts of mine from previous days, you'll see I've had my doubts about Malc, and you too. You're either paranoid or a twitchy baddy.

For the moment I think you're a slight mental.
