Right, there's an MP3 rip of the official Space Invaders Extreme soundtrack ("Audio Cluster") floating about on teh Intarwebs. I plonked them onto my iPod Classic (black 160gb model), carefully (as in I knew what I was doing. iTunes was used to copy them over - one of the few things I even use the program for). Now the problem here is...... they don't play. They point blank refuse to play. No error is reported; it acknowledges the songs and tries to play them, but it just sits there. The timer doesn't progress. Even using the seek function to move around each track doesn't work. Everything else on my iPod plays perfectly. Heck, the OST even plays well on iTunes (even when playing them directly from the iPod) without a hitch. And yes, it plays on Winamp and WMP.
I've tried editing the tags, removing any that might be part of the problem, all to no avail. The soundtrack does appear to be ripped properly and coherently, judging by the existence of a logfile which shows it to have been ripped securely with EAC. According to said log, LAME was used, so no fear of a crap encoder having been involved.
Now, I can't speak for iPhone or iPod Touch, but I'm starting to wonder whether it's a problem with my iPod, or even iPods in general. What I'd like you guys and gals to do is this: place this OST onto your own respective iPods/iTouches/iPhones and tell me if it plays for you. I just need to get to the bottom of this as I really don't fancy reconverting the MP3s in the hope they'll play next time, sacrificing quality in the process. As I don't wish to incur the wrath of our BETEO puppetmasters inadvertently, all I can say is google for it yourself. That or you can ask me very kindly via PM for a link. Whatever.
Thank you all for reading.
