The Town awakes once more, and as they all gather in the town square, it is noticed that we're missing two people. Did they sleep in? Let's find out.

Where's Mr Dave?

The townies (and the insidious hidden evil folk) dash to his house, but there is nary a sign of him. It seems as if he is dead, but no body is evident.

His house contains some dried frog pills, but little else to make him a ssupect.

Mr Dave was a Townie.

We're one more person down.

Where is...

...

Dudley?

The mob rushes to his house, and knocks politely, before kicking the door the hell down. Inside they find no trace of Dudley himself, but there are multiple copies of 'Goodellas' on DVD, and several leaflets saying 'Your Family Needs YOU!".

Oh aliens, you're getting good at this.

Dudley was the Mafia Recruiter.

With 17 people remaining, 9 votes are needed for a lynch, or 13 votes for no lynch.

Day Three will end at midday on Saturday 14th march, or earlier...

Ohhhh , so good and bad stuff.

Good - no chance for the mafia to grow , however the fact that there are 2 kills means that there *is* a mafia out there (only 1) and we dont have a cop to spot them - and for whatever reason they targeted Mr Dave.

I do have a question about the close of yesterday though - one minute it was all "we've got 5 hours to decide" the next there were a rush of votes and Shin was gone - I really dont see the point of the push at that point - she may have came on and roleclaimed (or said something else) when she was very close to the edge we could have went a different way.

Actually thats wrong - recruit is before kill so there could be 2 mafia out there (but no chance to grow)

I agree Zaphod, I was going to question Mr Dave's "shouting" to lynch her, but that is clearly academic now!
I think Shin would have role claimed yesterday, and that would have been interesting. The band wagon at the end is highly suss, but I still can't see the aliens or the Mafia (of which there could be two left?) band wagoning at this stage of the game.

Is it really, though? The general approach of most towns in our situation is to get rid of anyone who gets near to being lynched, for the sake of Getting Shit Done. This is perhaps proving to be a poor tactic, and I suggest that today's decision is made with a bit more deliberaiton.

Therefore I'd suggest proper explanatory posts for every vote today. And I think anyone voting today just because someone else did or saying "I agree with x's reasoning" without adding anything is definitely right to be FOSed.

You bloody pillocks.

You. Bloody. Pillocks.

There were hours left before the deadline, yesterday. I come online to tell you that Shin was being relatively quiet because she's hardly been at the computer and I find that she's already lynched. It was me that told her she'd been getting quite a lot of votes and might want to jump on to defend herself, hence the sudden appearance.

You bloody pillocks.

Also, how did none of you see this?
I don't know how I am meant to give you any targets love as my investigation skills are sadly nonplussd"
You bloody pillocks.

All right Gaz, calm down. We lost the cop, but the aliens have done us* a favour in taking out the recruiter.

*and them, obv.

@ Mr Chris, I am more suss of the people who were promoting a vote for Shin more than simply, "well we need to vote for someone."

Quick - get the FBI - Mr Chris has been taken over and acting like a chav .......

GazChap wrote:

And i dont see anything wrong with either her or you saying this yesterday , in fact that may well have taken some of the heat off her because it gives a reason why things happened instead of just :

Votes start piling up
She appears then vanishes
More people call for her .... and she shows up

Things like that *look* out of place , it gets people to think they have 'friends' watching the thread and alerting them , and if they do that doesn't automatically mean bad (there are townie masons and the FBI who are on the side of good but can alert each other) for a lot of people it was that + her not posting anywhere near her normal levels + the fact that she was the only person attracting votes.

So with the cop gone we've lost one bit of information (although it couldnt really be trusted) as she will have investigated someone on night 1 (and we assume hit someone non mafia) but they could have been recruited since then.

We also have other information in the town although people will be playing this info close to their chest ....

Two nights of investigation for the FBI (no mafia roleblocker since there was a hit last night)
Potentially two nights of psychic info from the good alien

We also have the fact that Dudley was quite vocal about Mr Dom which would suggest he's not Mafia (but he could still be an alien) , although i wouldnt put it past Dudley to be vocal about someone - then recruit them with the plan being to go after other people and give that guy a free pass..........

Indeed, and I was on my way to post that yesterday morning when you guys finalised the lynch :P

Which she told us all about well in advance, and I could have corroborated (what with me living with her :P)

Quote:

This isn't a major problem now that the recruiter's gone, there can only be a maximum of two Mafia members, and it's not definite that both of them are killers. There could be a roleblocker, which could work in our favour if they target the aliens.

Quote:

The Mafia have had two nights to recruit, it's quite possible there's a roleblocker and a hitman.

Quote:

I think this is exactly the tactic that Dudley would employ.

I'd like to point out I didnt vote for her :-)
(although if we were closer to the end of the day and nothing else had changed i would have)

Or against us if they target the FBI , or the good alien

Possibly , but the roleblocker could not have been active last night so the FBI will have 2 pieces of information - from tonight (depending on how many deaths there are) we may be able to work out if there is a mafia roleblocker or not

Eh? How would that work? If he shouts about someone being a baddy, then recruits them, surely he's just set them up to be lynched?

Yes, because it's a well-known fact that if someone drops obvious hints then they must be telling the truth.

Not if he (Dudley) is found to be bad, though.

That's a fairly high risk strategy on the off chance that you (the recruiter) get offed.

Not if they didnt really attract votes (which Duds calling for Mr Dom didn't)

If at some point in the future Duds was found out to be bad and things started to swing against Mr Dom he could point back and say "I'm obviously not mafia - look the mafia were trying to lynch me"

I'm not saying this has happened - I'm saying i wouldn't put it past duds to have done this.

It is a very tenuous link for someone to be suspect - i was actually first posting it to say the fact that Duds tried to lynch Mr Dom does not remove him from suspicion.

It does make sense that if someone does that they should at least be given a reprieve of sorts, and certainly enough time to elaborate when pushed.

On the other hand, Dudley has shown Mafiaskillz(tm) in the past so he might have realised he'd end up on someone's shitlist sooner rather than later. He's certainly a good enough player to realise that, if that's the case, forward-planning would be required.

Are you actually claiming that the BA has told you that Myps role is something bad (if so what is it ? )

Quote:
You are a benevolent alien, the last of your race, trying to thwart the evil aliens that are taking over this town. Each night phase, you can use your alien powers to psychically link with someone, and tell them the role of someone else. Unfortunately, you're a beginner in the ways of the psychic, and so can only pass on information to the simple mind of a Townie. Should you try to pass on information to anyone else, they will not receive it.

Your win condition is Benevolent Alien

So from the above the BA cant "talk" to anyone other than a townie - so with all the other roles around it would have been around 50/50 that they got something out to someone that can use it each night.

And the message may have been "person X is a townie" in which case it doesnt help to reveal it unless we're about to lynch that person (and this doesnt mean that they are not mafia by now anyway)
Or it might have been "person X is Scully" in which case again it doesnt help to reveal it (except you could distract Mr Chris for a while)

Have you been the victim of the Last Resort move by the Host Alien? Presumably if you had, you'd have to play to your new win condition and wouldn't be able to offer yourself up for sacrifice? Or even tell us straight outright?

I have no information. Only going off earlier posts.

I am a daft cunt, hopefully lovable enough for me to scrape through the game, but fully deserving an Alien reeming.

Does the BA learn if the knowledge skill has failed?
Surely we would learn about a Last Resort as there would be a dead alien lying in the town square? Wouldn't there?

To save people debating the rules, yes and yes.

Have you been the victim of the Last Resort move by the Host Alien? Presumably if you had, you'd have to play to your new win condition and wouldn't be able to offer yourself up for sacrifice? Or even tell us straight outright?

It makes no sense for the alien to use the last resort unless they think they will be killed (so during the day when they are close to a lynch or if they think they will be targeted that night) - if someone was taken over then they should be playing to their new win condition which would be alien so wouldnt make sense for them to try and 'out' themselves.

Its an odd move and its going to be strange if we get one vote off a lynch and the character "dies" (or can they do this when they have had the full set of votes against them in which case we 'lose' a day?)

I think its more likely that Zardoz is being silly - which probably does point more twards a townie role because if he had any 'friends' they would be telling him to stop.

True nuff. Just chucking ideas out for why Zardoz has apparently gone insane.

Could be a double-bluff, he may have friends telling him to carry on in the hope people will assume he's a townie with no friends.

In all honesty, we're on day three and I don't have a fucking clue. I suspect practically no-one. I've got a little incling toward Dr. Gaywood but I can't think why, so I'm going to ignore it.
Does anyone have any awesome theories?

Is this an advert for a very specialised solicitor firm in town?

*looks up from sand pit*

I can see why you'd jump to that paranoid conclusion (it's the game afterall) but I'm a simple buffoon, knackered from late nights of xbox and full of a head cold.

*eats another crayon, follows through*

Ew, deadline on a weekend?

Ok, I won't be around much today. Another townie down is bad, but getting the mafia recruiter is really good news.
Perhaps we should stop lynching as the aliens/mafia are doing a better job than the rest of us. :)

Knowing that Dudley was the recruiter, have we any thoughts on who he might have tried to recruit?
