I bought an Alpha Power one last time but it was still a little bit louder than I'd like. My old PSU in my arctic cooling T2 case was so quiet I could barely hear it with my ear next to the fans.

I'm looking for something similar. I wish replacing the psu in that case was easier.. it's an odd design.

I've got a Corsair HX520 and it's really quiet, but it seems to have gone up in price by quite a bit since I bought mine (although you should be able to pick one up on eBay for £50 or so). My old PC's 350W Nexus PSU was nice and quiet, too (although possibly not as quiet as the Corsair); I've got a feeling it's been discontinued though so you might have trouble finding one.

In any case, http://www.silentpcreview.com/article699-page1.html is probably worth a look.

Forget who does them now, but you can get silent PSUs with no fans at all.

Cost a pretty penny though.

The S1 is basically what I have (the twin turbo) without any fans.

It's rather large, so be careful when housing it.

I got a ram cooler today from corsair. I'm not bothered about the noise as the PC sounds like a force 5 hurricane as it is :D

BTW it was Coolmax who make totally fanless psu's. But they're very heavy as they're basically a large slab of alu with lots of fins on and aren't cheap.

Green silver tower and red silver keyboard?

Being in your office must be quite the trip.

hehe. The keyboard is a M$ alienware jobby. I've had it years.. You know how it is when you get all used to a keyboard and can't type for toffee on another one?

I wish I could just replace the PSU in my old case as the case is rather spiffy with its no screws nature, but it seems they don't offer replacement psus, just whole new cases with them already there.

Get thee to PC world...
I got a Jeantech one from there that is practically silent, but I just picked up the three ones that had 'quiet' on the box & took them to the tech center bit and asked them to run them. The guy behind the desk plugged them in, stuck a paperclip across two pins (I forget which ones) and the PSU powers up & you can have a good listen :)

Difficult to tell in PC world though as it'll be noisy there.

There you go. An entire business set up to shut PC's the hell up :)

I got my video cooler from them, and will be ordering from them again shortly :)
