To be slightly fair to them, they're not saying that people are offended by gay people. They're saying that in the vast majority of cases, people using 'gay' in their username are using it as a pejorative, which obviously is offensive. G4y4ndProud is obviously different to Ur4AllG4yf4gs. The fact that their response was a blanket ban is the problem, not the reasoning behind it.
