For boring reasons, I have two of the fancy BT wireless routers, one with the DECT/VOIP phone, one without. Also one BT vision box that works with it and provides TV on demand stuff.

Can this stuff be used easily with other ISPs or is it best to ebay it? Could anyone here use one?

NO KYLIE! DEATH TO THIS THREAD!

Also, there's physically no reason why they wouldn't work, but I reckon there's a lot of software/firmware reasons.

When I tried to connect my BT Home Hub 2 (the slightly curved black monolith thing) to my new Sky Broadband it told me my Sky broadband username was out of its permitted range. So as Davpaz says, it looks like the software might be your problem.

Meh. I'll stick 'em on ebay then, can't be bothered with endless hackery for something like that.

edit: sigh, they appear to go for £2 on ebay. That sort of confirms that they're locked then.

I spent a fair while trying to hack one. I don't remember being successful.

I also don't remember why I was trying. It wasn't to change the ISP.

I remember being quite unimpressed with it for some reason though.
