Mimi, I think under the account management section of EggBox Live! there is an option to add points with a credit card. Obv. this is of no use if it isn't hooked up to the superpipesofknowledge.

Don't do that, though, as they're more expensive and you'll have a hellishly long time convincing Microsoft to remove your card details from their system.

Oh, yeah, sorry folks, meant one to email the code straight away rather than get a physical card. Wanted to get points without entering card details on the microsft site or via the eggbox as I don't like the fact that you can't remove your own card details and have to phone them to allow you to remove it, and you can't add points for live membership, etc, when you have a card registered with them, which is a bit of a cheek.

If there isn't a place to buy online for instant codification, I'll pop down to town and get a points card from one of the game shops tomorrow. Just thought I'd ask here in case anyone knew of anywhere, but couldn't remember if the guy that people have ued before only dd subscription codes or points as well, and couldn't find the link in the search.

I got some points from gamepointsnow.com a few months ago and was pretty pleased with the service; 2100 points cost £17.95 and delivery was pretty much instant.

cheapest ive found so far, not sure if there legit but they were a sponsored site in the google search with the one stu mentioned.

4200 points for 30quid is great value, thats like a 400point game for 2 quid.

I get my Live renewals from him, he's a good guy. However he notes "all prices exclude VAT"; if you put 15% on top of the £30/4200 points it's only barely cheaper than the dashboard price. Does he add VAT on those transactions, does anyone know?

I needed some myself and had some pretend pay pal money laying around and so used the Gamebite website. I cannot say that I am impressed. Purchased four days ago, no answer to emails regarding the non-emailing of code. Talked to someone on their 'live chat' thing on the website and had an experience comparable with talking to a 12 year old in a chat room. Promised I would get them by this afternoon and still nothing.

Not impressed.

In shops they vary, but £16 for 2,100 is about average.

OK. I wonder if these online places are buying the cards from the lowest prices at retailers, and selling the numbers, making a quid per transaction?

17.62 in my local Asda, I checked on the way home :)

I was thinking about it but then noticed that the imaginary, non-physical currency, held on a disposable card of zero value, was enclosed in a *full size plastic DVD case complete with inlay. Shrinkwrapped with extra plastic.* So they can get to fucking fuck with that, I'll try one of the online thingies above.

I've only ever bought one of those and was so shocked by the packaging, I couldn't bring myself to chuck it. I still have it in my desk at work.

I've still got mine under the cabinet where I keep my games. I couldn't bear to stick it in the bin either.

Seriously? I always assumed those DVD cases were just temporary packaging shops used. That's just daft.

You can't even use them as proper DVD cases because they have a stupid card holder instead of a hub for a disc. Fuck Lidl, they're amateurs compared to Microsoft.

You fool! Now Bill Gates will be able to listen to any conversation in your entire house! And snigger at you behind your back! About twaddle!

As soon as you've entered the code, you should gather up the case and card and the shavings of silver foil you had to rub off to see the number AND the coin you rubbed it off with. Then you wrap it all up in aluminium foil, wrap all THAT up in a wet towel, then walk - DON'T use a car - at least a mile from your home before dumping the lot in a public wastebin. Follow it with a tin's worth of lighter fluid and a burning sheet of newspaper. Make sure you don't go straight home - divert for at least five minutes in a different direction first and make sure there aren't any unmarked vans, helicopters or cats in sight before you actually start to head back.

It's the only way to be sure.
