Right. 18 months after it went completely, I can finally afford to replace my funsquare's DVD drive. My repairs didn't work, so bugger it. I've looked around and the more I read, the more confused I get on the subject, so can the beteo hive brain of thought powers tell me what the best way to go about it is?

Is one drive notably better than the others, and does that one require any faffing about with firmware and such? If so, how on earth do I do that and can I be arsed?

Answers on the back of a five poud note, please.

How much does it cost to replace? A new 360 can be had for around £90 now.

Last I checked, £20-£30. Possibly cheaper if I shop hard.
