Anyone want to review the new DS AoE for SavyGamer for me?

Also does anyone mind me asking people here to review games for me now that we have the site? It doesn't feel wrong to me, but what is the general consensus?

No not at all. MR GRUMPY FACE. Double grumps as I'm always quite anal about looking after them.

I got my Xbox back though, so thats good.

Good review, that - thanks, something I wouldn't have picked up but now might. There's a rogue "effect" that should be "affect".

Yeah, my wife picked up on that after I'd sent it off. Doh.

It's my fault, I always get it wrong.

Affect: Verb; Effect: Noun.
A Very Early Night.

Obviously there are some exceptions.

The exception being the entire usage of effect as a verb, presumably.

Yeah, effect can be used as a verb, but it's horrible. I hate it when people say 'Can you effect this change?'.

Affect can also be used as a noun, but it's rare.

Yeah, mainly used in psychology and the like. 'A sad affect' can be used to describe someone's mood, for example.

S'true.
Quote:
“Affect” as a noun. Forget it; you're in journalism, not psychiatry (though you might wind up in therapy). “Affect” as a noun means an emotional state as contrasted to a cognition. “Affect” is a dimension of behavior rather than a separate segment of it. “Affect” is thus experienced at the same time that perception, performance and thought are going on. (See, I told you to forget it!) As for the second line of the headline at the top of this missive, “effect an affect” would mean to cause a certain affectation or trait to occur. In other words, acting, something Robert DeNiro does and Ben Affleck tries to do, but not as well.

From here and other places.

Still, Age of Empires: Mythologies is pretty good.

That quote basically says that if you're using 'affect' as a noun, you mean affectation.

Yeah, I expect it's a truncation of it.
