My housemate saw a police offer the other day.

The police officer looked at him, and he made eye contact back.

They looked at each other for a few seconds.

Then my housemate, smiled and waved at the police officer.

Then the police officer said "what are you smiling at?" with an aggressive tone.

My housemate said "The local bobby? Is that illegal now?", and walked off.

Out of curiosity, did he add "creep" after "what are you smiling at"?

I used to play a brilliant game with the plod in the US. They did this brand of root beer called IBC or something. It was a darkish brown kinda like Ale and came in what looked like a real beer bottle. Oh the fun you could have when a cop was coming toward you. Pick it up, take a swig and tip it at the cop and wink.

Ammount of times they fell for it was unbelievable.

I wonder if it's only when using larger cameras. There seem to be completely different (made up) rules for SLRs and compacts/phones these days.
