One PC for sale.

Spec.

Alienware MJ12 chassis workstation approved. The only one in the UK (unless someone else stuffed one in a suitcase and lugged it up the gangway of the Queen Mary 2).

Pic -

Image

My actual unit the day I got it.

Image

Recent pic avail on RQ.

Now, the internal spec.

AMD Phenom Quad core (X4) 9550 Black edition 2.2ghz stock clock.
4GB DDR 667 ram
Geforce 8600GTS, turned out to be 256MB.
Also has a onboard radeon 1xxx series (no good for gaming)
Network card
450w psu
Terratec Aureon Sound card
Onboard Azelia 5.1 HD sound (I used both because of my coding, needed them for testing).
16x DVD/RW RAM SATA
3 spare SATA cables
40gb Maxtor IDE hard drive that is the boot drive for Windows.

I will supply Windows Vista Premium Black edition both installed and on DVD (not original, do some research on Black edition).

Last year I paid 500 quid for this as an Advent from PC world. The motherboard is a Foxxconn and has been custom logo'd during post with Alienware logos. The motherboard won best mid range board in PCF last July.

If it wasn't for the fact I stipped it and put it into this chassis then I could warranty the hdd (infact I possibly could through western any way) but because of the next part I have decided I dont want 2 pcs anymore.

Last night the 500gb storage drive made a clack and I lost everything. I backed up my photos and videos but everything else, whilst still viewable is inaccessible.

I would normally beat the walls and cry but I just dont fucking care anymore. Its kinda made me realize that I need to step back and stop getting so involved.

The rest of the PC is pristine, I wont be supplying the hdd as I may have it sent off and recovered, but I doubt it..

Any way. I dont need the money (recent windfall) but I have decided I kind of like the space and dont enjoy sitting in what sounds like a refridgerated unit (one is bad enough, 2?).

It also has gold fan covers, biohazard style. These were simply put there to stop from catching knuckles in the 60mm enormous fans.

It runs perfectly, I am typing on it now. I'll also include a Dell XPS kb and mouse.

Price. I'm not being greedy about this at all, I want 200 quid firm. It's not about money it's about space, and if this thing went into the loft it would never come back out so I need a quick sale.

I have numerous bits and bobs I will chuck in, aswell as all the boxes for the parts. Every manual etc etc.

The cpu, ram and board would cost that alone. The case I would summise would reach at least 100 quid here on ebay due to it's rarity and the fact it's an alienware. It's huge and built like my nan's coal bunker. It's also a very fast, recent and capable CPU with more than the max limit of ram that Vista can see.

So it's a good 2 year ride before it needs anything done.

A 160gb samsung spinpoint can be had for about 30 delivered, but I just CAN NOT justify spending another penny on it as I have my other one now. And seeing as I have lost all of my data all I have left is gaming, so the new one is very formattable at any time so to speak.

I have reciepts and documentation for the original Advent PC bought last july for 500 and I can supply them (photocopy, my graphics card is on there too and still under replacement warranty).

PM please. And I will provide recent pics if needed.

This is a very good PC, people. If I had some money and some space I'd be all over it like a cake.

I'm very, very tempted by that. But it's the wrong side of payday for me. If by some slim chance it's still around in a fortnight I may come knocking.

The hard drive 'rack' is removable and has a 4" fan. So its designed for server/worstation use. It hold 5 hdds IIRC.

I would definitely recc a bigger PSU if youre holding more than 2 hdds, I reakon it would blow up.

However, if I can keep the 8600GTS and you use the onboard Id be willing to let it go for 175. That would leave you some of the PSU money needed.

I have a mate whose graphics card is ass, one of the original 6800 GPU pcie nvidias and hes brassic..

TBH this isnt really about the cash (hence the very low price) because I dont really need the cash. All it will do is buy me a 2nd 9800GT, another arctic cooler and an SLI bridge for the rig Im building.

Also, I ordered another 2gb of OCZ Xtreme for the green one today, giving me a total of 3gb. I didnt realise tho that the ram needed by the green one costs almost as much as DDR3. Mind you, in fairness its almost as fast as DDR3 and is shrouded in alu so can be oced nicely too (and the voltages upped).

So Im only gonna be gaming now. I have been thinking of totally canning the coding and graphics stuff for a long time, this hard drive death has made my mind up. Summer is around the corner (well, 3 months) and once that comes I walk up to the beach (less than a mile away) and chill all day fishing and relaxing. So the PC wont get a look in. Plus, with pcs this big in this room you're sweating ollies in about ten mins. Its akin to being in a bloody sauna lmao.

Id rather this was collected of course. The shipping would do you at least 30 and then theres a risk (even small) of it getting smashed. However, I'll use the packing the green one came in, and thats beef.

If you need to know my whereabouts pm me, we can sort that out later tho :)

I'll give Kovac dibs for the moment.. However, if he cant (I know women) then if you send like a 10 quid dep through paypal Id wait 2 weeks.

Honestly, this isnt about the cash. Its just about this ending up in the loft if I dont sell it and I would rather someone got good use out of it, hence the price.

Seeing as there's some interest Ill get some more pics in a minute :) And itll show how the chassis works and why its so damned great.

Pic one. Sorry about the rat's nest in there, I'ts not currently assembled in the pics. It is now.. Still have to remove the 500gb hdd but I'll show you how that works in a sec.

As you can see, this mid ATX board is fucking lost in there. Theres not a single cable or wire going over the board. Note the 6 inch rear fan located right next to the cooler for the CPU. It's big, hence why I put that gold fan guard on it. Fuckin hurts if you accidentally get a knuckle in it lol.

Image

OK in this pic here I have circled 2 black handles. Note the drives are all suspended on rubber dampeners, I have loads of these AND the proper mounting screws in a kit from Alienware. I got loads with it..

Image

You simply pull those handles toward the front, and bob's your auntie's live in lover. Presto. This brings me onto the ONLY minor flaw with the chassis. See the circle, in there is supposed to be 2 plastic clear light carriers. One has always been missing. However, the chassis has not one single mark blemish or scratch on. I've babied it.

Image

Front access. Note the 4 circled thumb screws? you undo those. Oh, that sata drive sled is also included. Currently it has my 16gb SS drive in it, but thats coming out but I will include the sled. Theyre only about a tenner but as a sever it kicks ass.

Image

Then discon all the cables off the hdd's and simply push the cage. This happens, at which point you can pull it out and maintain, clean and add/remove drives.

This needs cleaning, its been about 3 weeks. Any way, note how the fan goes in, you simply squeeze the 2 plastic prongs and it slides up and out.

Image

That's why this case kicks so much ass. The air circulation is as good as it gets and pretty much everything is tool less.

Couple of pics of the system stats, just did these as I'm using it atm. Ignore the Elite Pro device, thats my solid state drive and thats staying here, but, the sled its in will remain :)

Image

Image

Note :

This case is almost as big as the green one. Please bear that in mind. It's big, it's heavy and it's fucking solid. All the edges are rolled, note no bloody smears or bloody fingerprints in there.

I will clean it, I've cleaned it every month or so and de-dusted it so it'll arrive as new.

Certainly is surprising. Is that 40Gb boot drive a bit slow perhaps? I think the Vista performance doodad only tests the boot volume during the hard drive bit.

The fact that the last rating was done with the onboard radeon in. The 8600GTS is back in now, hence why it says unrated.

Also, the 40gb hdd isnt the quickest in the world.. 5400RPM IIRC.

I had a data crash early on in the 500gb's life and suspected it to be a virus. Instead of moving or backing up all the data then I simply added the 40gb to load windows onto so I didnt have to lose anything on the 500.

That's why it's my fault tbh. I danced with fire and I got burnt. Thing is, I'm so happy about the green bogey that I don't care, and 90% of all the shit lost was all programming stuff that I have been deliberating walking away from for 2 years.

I used to code emus and make front ends. I don't enjoy it anymore and havent for about two years, so this is a big blessing in disguise tbh. The shit's gone, and it can't come back and thus I have a real nice feeling of calm wafting over me atm.

Sod it, I want super duper stupid fast gaming and fuck all more.

I have lost all my music, but tbh I had so much of it that I listened to hardly any of it and I have anything I want on store bought CD's, same with my films. It's all greedy shit you don't watch just because its there.

If I'd lost my photos i would be crying my eyes out, but they're safe :)

Sorry man. Not possible.

Chip is 97 + shipping cheapest I could find it.
Ram is about 50.
Board is 40 or more.

Then there's the rest. I predict I could get what youre offering for the empty case on ebay because firstly AW never ever produced the MJ12 in the UK so it had to be imported (thus there might not even be another) and apart from the badge you have a VERY nice case.

BTW I havent even equated this either.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/256MB-ZOTAC-NVIDI ... 240%3A1318

And that's a shit horridly built one.

Mine is EVGA with a nice sink and fan.

Seriously, you're utterly wasting your time. When I sell stuff I give the absolutely lowest Im prepared to take. Its actually worth alot more. If I threw in a 30 quid HDD Im pretty confident Id get 300 for the whole thing on Ebay. As I say, I don't need the cash and I'm not greedy, so I cant be assed. Would rather a mate, or the next best thing (internet forum chat pal) got it cheap.

My green one was 270. It had a dual core processor @ 2.2ghz not a quad core, 1gb ram not 4gb and so on.

The one you were quoted on, quite frankly was crap. But hey, that's what a crap computer costs.

If Kovac and Doc don't want it I'll either stick a 160gb drive in and ebay it, or, stick it in the loft.

Either you're being silly or you haven't calculated what this system is worth.

Fair enough. I was going to negotiate postage rates up to a grand total of 220. All in.

Your loss.

No worries.

I said the price was firm man, and it is. 200 + shipping.

See, what doing that does is save all the messing around.

If Doc or Kavoc don't want it it's going on ebay, I've already written the listing now and it's ready to be started :)

Silent now. My cousin just phoned and someone broke into his house and stole his laptop (viva brixton) so I've given it to him..

They were real quiet as they spin slower, obs moving alot more air at slower speeds..

Sorry chaps, but family first and all that. He's been good to me over the years so it's the least I can do.

Sorry Doc... TBH I had my reservations any way. I was terrified something would happen to it, it might get broken in transit etc. My anxiety levels are high as it is..

If he changes his mind or I get it back someday soon I'll deffo keep you in mind. But I can't leave him with no PC.

Hehe, well, I was kidding anyway. Of course it should go to your family first, no worries John.

I was going to buy it aswell, as it was quiet!
HMPH!

Instead of giving him computers, give your cousin advice: move house.
