But not from entertainment items. Anything from hairspray to snack foods. No videos, DVDs or games or books. Magazines are fine. Either PM me or put them in here. I do have very good reason for wanting them but it's more amusing to leave you not knowing.

Do we need to scan them, or do you just want the numbers?

I hope you're playing Barcode Battlers :D

No need to put spaces in them. Just number only will be fine. But thank you very much!

Oh and I must point out that if they're less than 12 numbers, they're no good.

I had a great idea once involving the iPhone and a big database full of barcodes. Unfortunately the iPhone camera (or more accurately, the fixed focus of it) can't read barcodes.

I'm just trying to work out if playing Barcode Battler is sadder than playing Eve. But I suppose with a Barcode Battler you might actually go outside in order to find more barcodes.

Wonder what those super long barcodes in Aldi are worth?

If you really want to know what I do with them, it's to enable me to create listings on Amazon for stuff that isn't already there.
Such as 5000168076218 which was mini cheddars but is now this

Ah so to list something on Amazon you need a valid Bar Code, but as these items (for whatever reason) don't you are faking it with items that defo wouldn't be on amazon.

Crafty. :)

At first I tried making them up but it didn't work. Amazon told me that the barcode isn't valid. Is there some formula to know if it is valid or not?

I seem to remember there is a formula to check if they're valid. Something to do with one of the numbers being a check digit... possibly the last one?

Anyway...

Yes. Or they have a barcode which matches something else or the barcode matches another branch of Amazon's version of the product (often with UK import mentioned in the listing). For some reason despite things being a UK item they are on other Amazon sites but not the UK and you can't list them by that barcode if they are. Oddly. So I have to create a completely new listing for it.
