Hello BETEO Ravers!

A friend of mine who is getting married next weekend has just been let down by his wedding dee-jay. Therefore, do any of you guys in the South East Wales area know of a DJ that might be able to step in? Someone of the Smashy and Nicey variety rather than the floor filling banging choons type.

Apparently they must hold PI insurance (presumably at the insistence of the venue).

I know it's a long shot but who knows. Any help would be appreciated and rewarded with whatever I can steal from Dr The Woods house next time I visit.

The fiancee hangs around on more than one wedding forum. They would probably know of a few possibles. I shall ask her to take a look this evening if you're still stuck.

That's terrifying. There are wedding forums?!

Our own Grim... does weddings, or at least has in the past. Don't know if he'd travel to South Wales for it though.

Thanks for the help guys, you're all ace.

I shall point my friend to this thread.

Although MaliA's mention of Tim 'Big Dog' Westwood did make me want to get my motorbike and gun out and head off to London again.

Mrs Squirt frequented the occasional wedding forum. They're terrifying, self-reinforcing, detailed obsessed monstrosities set up by the wedding industry in order to make women feel inferior if their centre-pieces don't match their save-a-date cards. You go there looking for a good local place to get dress alterations done and come out having ordered 50kg of sugared almonds and £700 worth of handmade, gold leaf embossed chair backs for the reception.

Handy hints: Ask them if they have a PPL License - the better ones will have. Also ask if they can recommend good caterers - if they can't, then the chances are that they haven't been doing it for very long or aren't good enough to have made any 'friends'. Also ask them how flexible they are on timings, and refuse anyone that doesn't say 'completely' (friends of ours once had someone that refused to play any more music until they cut the cake, as it was on the "schedule"). And make sure they send a contract.

The DJ will need PPL and also MCPS if he's not playing from CD's (the MCPS, the shower of cunts that they are, now want people to pay for copying music to a hard drive).

The venue will need PRS.

The PRS, PPL and MCPS are a shower of incompetent money grabbing bastards who double or even triple dip on fees and I hope the lot of them die in a chemical fire. :attitude: :attitude: :attitude:

I thought the venue could hold those (they could a few years ago).

Venue must have PRS. MCPS must be paid by the person who has copied the music onto a laptop/hard drive whatever. Personally I think they should "get to fucking fuck" for being cheeky money grabbing bastards.

The music industry, everyone gets to triple dip on the payments and yet Sir Cliff still wants the copyright on his old shit from the 50's extended.
