Hi,

I'm going to be running some retro games at a university gaming convention in a couple of months, and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for multiplayer games to include? Preferably ones that are easy to emulate on a PC.

So far, my list includes...

SNES: Street Fighter II, Super Mario Kart, Rock N' Roll Racing, Unirally, Mortal Kombat II, Contra III, Micro Machines, Super Smash TV, Super Bomberman, Super Off Road

Megadrive: Streets of Rage, Doctor Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Golden Axe, Sonic The Hedgehog 2

You're sorted with just Smash TV and Contra Spirits! :DD

If you can have MAME running too, try Twinkle Star Sprites, Shippu Mahou Daisakusen, TMNT and Battletoads (which differs from the NES original in that it's purely a roaming beat-'em-up, so there's no Turbo Tunnel or Clinger-Winger to scare everybody off).

I'd say Aliens Vs Predator, the Capcom arcade beat-em-up if you're doing Mame as well. I could list off a load of stuff, but they'd mostly be beat-em-ups :S

Glad to be of assistance! I'd name more, but I'd just end up spouting hundreds of shmups at you. :p

Which university is it, by the way?

If you're going to go the MAME route, some obvious ones would be Bubble Bobble, Gauntlet, Supersprint, Golden Axe, Warlords & Snow Bros.

Battletech on the Genesis (one player aims the weapons, the other steers the mech), and of course... General Chaos.

Perhaps harder to get working in an emulator, but the Game Genie had a code that would enable one player to move the pieces and the other to rotate them in Tetris. Oh, the arguments!

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm definitely going to try MAME.

Chaos on the Spectrum. If you don't mind explaining rules. And people sneering.

Pang on the GX4000 supports two players.

Lotus 2 on the Amiga?

Skidmarks on the Amiga?

Or do you mean more than 2 player?
