For a long time I have used a 4GB Lexar memorystick produo for my PSP. It always worked fine with no problems.
When I recently bought a netbook, I decided to use the memory stick for the recovery back-up program that came with the netbook (I of course copied all the PSP stuff to my PC first) in order to create a recovery partition copy should anything bad happen to the netbook. The program crashed while formatting the memory stick, so I ended up using a different USB pendrive instead to make the recovery partition, and I put the PSP memory stick back in a drawer
A month passes, and I fancy using my PSP. I put the memory stick in my PC in order to put all the old PSP stuff back on it, only to find that it is corrupted. So I try and format it, but windows plays the "was unable to format this drive" card. After much faffing about, I have finally managed to format it (using the drive management thing in Windows), and it now works 100% normally within windows - I can drag files onto it etc.
BUT, the PSP is still refusing to recognize it (the orange light just flashes when I insert it). Worse, I can't even format it with the PSP as it claims there is no memory stick inserted it. Any way to resolve this?
Short version:
Memory stick was fucked, appears to have been sorted, but the PSP isn't happy with it.

Theres a program you can download from HP called "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" which i've found is really useful for fixing 'broken' format memory sticks
Its small and its free - worth a try

Along similar lines, can someone suggest a place to get a good/cheap memory card for a PSP. I don't know what the biggest ones it can use are, but one of those would be nice, don't really want to spend any more than £20 though.

Also could be a FAT32 or NTFS formatting issue. Some things can only understand NTFS and the same goes for FAT32. Just get FAT!
