Lots of lovely heavy snow in South London right now - here's for a miserable journey to work tomorrow!

It's very lovely out here in Surrey. Had a run this morning and luckily the snow fell after I'd finished - I might have lost my sense of humour had it come down on top of me, though many people had to run through it. But gawd, once I'd got home and thawed out, watching people giggling and having snowball fights this evening was lurvely.

I was in Sheff earlier, and went to a totally heroic pub called Brown Bear just as it started snowing. It was lovely gulping down cider whilst sitting next to a real fireplace and looking out at the snow. It felt like all was right with the world. And then a jovial local sat next to us and spouted a load of casually racist nonsense. :(

(I think I upset some of his pals as I giggled to a friend slightly too loudly, whilst the gentleman had nipped off to the toilet, that we were definitely leaving immediately in case he continued his muzzer-bashing when he got back.)

We've had two inches this evening and it's so bright outside with all the whiteness. Several times this evening I've called one of my dogs in from the back garden and she's been like a snowball (don't worry dog lovers, she's a Welsh Border Collie/Samoyed cross so she LOVES cold weather - her coat is so thick she's congenitally designed to survive in -20c so this is quite balmy to her)

My daughter is obviously hoping that her school is closed tomorrow.

It tried to snow briefly when I was cycling on the New Forest earlier. Really cold wind but my water bottle didn't freeze like it did 3 weeks ago.

It is mental here. I live on the crest of a very steep hill, and the traffic is backed up for as far as the eye can see, because cars are taking it in turns to go down the hill, and there might have been an issue down the bottom. I haven't seen a car come up the hill in hours!!!

I just had to upset Maria by saying that I wouldn't go out with her and build a snowman on the heath, because it's half past midnight...

You girl.

Eight inches of snow outside. I just drove four miles back from a friend's house, and it's absolutely horrific. No sign of any gritters, so it's hillstarts on thick snow and slippy-slidey all the way.

Fortunately I have an obliging colleague with a car, who lives nearby me, otherwise getting home would be fun... as it may be anyway, as we go skidding into the Thames...

Just noticed it had snowed overnight here in Dublin when I peeked out the kitchen door earlier. I've been up all night too. I need to get one of those weather widgets on this to save me the trouble of looking out the window.

After eventually getting to sleep a few hours ago, my mate has just phoned and woke me sparkled of his chompers to tell me about whatever is going through his head. It was funny though so I wasn't too bothered, then I looked out the window. It has went from 'no snows' to 'fucking loads of the stuff' in the last couple of hours. Enjoy your nice warm offices :(

It is moving north now apparently so you may still experience this weather front in all its glory.

The most snow here I can ever remember seeing and its still going. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere and I have lots of provisions in so I can just play Quakelive all day.

Couple of inches here. Country roads covered in snow and ice, but not much traffic on the road, so a very slow, but fairly easy drive to work.

Fuck all in Cardiff.

This hasn't stopped my training course in Bristol being cancelled (trainer was coming from Kent) nor the train that was intended to get me there (due to the snow in London), though. I hope the rest of the world is laughing at how Britain once again grinds to a fucking halt because of 10cm of snow. 'Arctic Conditions' my ass!

At least five inches already here, and the snow's still geting heavier. I live at the end of a little road on top of a hill, so I'm not risking my Noddy car on the journey to work. Which is at the end of a long country road at the bottom of a hill. So to hell with that, frankly.

While not significant compared to most other countries, this is the most snow I've seen in 20 years, so it's understandable that it has something of an impact.

Of course, the fact that I have yet to see a single gritter doesn't help.

tea tray, and a cushion on your bottom. you know it makes sense, and would win "best commute" by a mile.

My parents saw gritters running as they drove back to London yesterday. Except, they ran them too soon, so all the grit was blowing off the roads as soon as it was dropped.

I saw a snowplough on the A420 eysterday.

"Look," I said, "A snow plough"

"But there is no snow" said MrsA

maliA sighs.

I light dusting of snow in Fleetwood, getting slightly thicker as you approach Preston.
