The current dfs advert has a reggae tune as the background music. There was a song back from my teenage years that used that same bass/guitar line as the rythmn. What the fuck was it? Do do do do do, do do do do do, do do do do do, do do do do do etc.

Ooh, ooh! It's gotta be....."I say no prescription for me, shes the one, my only remedy....night nuuuuurrrrsse"...

My second guess would be "reggae reggae sauce, reggae reggae sauce"

This is the extent of my reggae knowledge, now do I get a prize or what?

Nooooo. No. There's a new DFS advert I saw tonight, which had the reggae song that this dance song I'm thinking of remixed.

Nah, sounds more like a Desmond Dekker and the Aces tune, can't place it. Could be a Maytals or Skatalites track too.

Hope this helps Kissyfur.

Edit: That didn't work for some reason - was supposed to be Street Tuff by Double Trouble and the Rebel MC. And tossrStu got there first.

Edit:

The original track is 'Last Train to Skaville' by The Ethiopians

Hmm, dance style track with similar bass line... how about:

'Dub Be Good To Me' by Beats International

Ha, yes I know that one - an early Norman Cook effort. Not what I was after.

Nik's Rebel MC effort sounds familiar but I'm not sure that's the one I'm thinking of.

As I know the name of the track I can search for a remix - thanks Pundy.

It's Night Nurse by Gregory Isaacs.

No it isn't!

Pundy was right with the original track being 'Last Train to Skaville' by The Ethiopians. It is entirely possible that the early 90s track "remixing" it was in fact just my memory remembering that ghastly Rebel MC track.

I thought it was this

but it does seem to be the Ethiopians, and I'd just like to say: grrrrrr

I hadn't heard/seen this advert until this thread, now I've seen/heard it something like 20 times!

I read the post with night nurse in. Apologies.

The song you're looking for is the one that plays at the beginning of This is England (the film made here a small while ago). The rebel mc sample came *from* it. Please don't confuse them.

Anyway. the song is on the album Massive Reggae that was released last summer.

THIS is the track that I was trying to find. I knew the line was 'stop your messin' around' but when I googled this with 'lyrics' after it it bought up absolutely loads of songs, not this one, though.

It would appear so >:(

I'm not sure why when he's produced far worse records:

I loved that track when I was 14 but c'mon, that's not a great sample to use, is it?

Actually... that did just bring on a bit of a nostalgia rush. I'm off to dig out my Dark Side II CD.
