The film is a bit mumble mumble (and it cheats) but the 3D is really good.
Go and see it, if you get the chance, if only for the technical impressiveness. And it's got 3D boobies

Fairly awful alt rock / punk rock from the 80s, John Peel used to like them though.

I saw My Bloody Valentine live as a support act for Bob Mould. They didn't leave any impression on me.

Grim..., what did the 3d glasses look like? Were the lenses just a bit like sunglasses?

They were black and had those red and green/blue bits in them when I went to see a film recently-I kept them

Yeah, just 'dark' glasses. Flickr-me-do.

That's why I'm asking. The red/blue split can be done in any cinema, I think, as the film is mastered with the two superimposed images. I suspect My Bloody Valentine is using the superior method of polarising the light of the left/right images differently, which does require some fandango work on the projector.

Yeah, I see. They are horizontally and vertically polarised, and the projector somehow (not sure of details) polarises the light in the left and right eye images.

Hmmm, that suggests an experiment. If anyone goes to see it, try angling your head onto the side during a particularly stong 3D bit. Once your face is sideways your left/right eye images should be inversed, which I imagine look amusing wrong.

With little battery powered LCD lenses that blank the image synchronised with the frame rate?

Sounds like the same technology that was used for a showing of The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D that I went to see. I've still got those plastic glasses lying around somewhere.

Yes, I think so. This is the first film using real actors in real sets, though (Journey to the Centre of the Earth did it, but with actors on top of 3D CG backgrounds).

They're very good if you like that sort of thing, but it's wall of sound heavily layered guitar. I quite like them every once in a while but they're not emo FFS.

This is why they were supporting Bob Mould no doubt, they basically ripped off the guitar tones he more-or-less created (but then so did everyone else from the Pixies onward). Having never heard their material before, they weren't very good live; it's not that accessible, if you see what I mean.

I can't imagine they're sound would be possible to replicate live, tbh.

supported Bob Mould because he was a huge admitted fan and the Beaster album and songs like Gift are his tribute. he had said that he was in awe of kevin shields and how he played guitar. A Good idea on the first Sugar album is deliberate acnowledged pixies tribute.

also because sugar and mbv were both on creation they toured together. mbv were known as a must-see live act but thats when they could play a full set.

So, did anyone else see this?
