I used to hear this often on Radio 2 years ago. I suspect the song is from the 80s, it is a sort of mid-tempo generic mild rock style number (dire-straits esque) and the only bit I can really describe is that it has a really distinctive stuttering part immediately before the chorus where the singer goes "aye-aye-aye-aye-aye-aye-aye-aye" (definitely 8 very quick beats) and the whole thing sounds like the record is skipping.

I know this is little to go on, but I'm hoping someone will put my mind at rest. The stuttering part is very distinctive for a song from the late 70s or 80s. The chorus immediately starts out of the stuttering part and the change seems fairly jarring.

Help? :x

Edit - It's Movin' Out by Billy Joel

I don't know what your song is, but it's conjured hideous images of some bloke singing on TotP with that song that went "I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I... luur-urrve you!" and repeated it a load. The bastard.

That would be the not-from-the-80s song entitled (helpfully) "The Yeah Yeah Song"

The song clearly starts iiiiiiiiiiiiiii. not yeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeah. I couldn't be bothered to make it to the chorus, I got bored.

Is it "Movin' Out"? That's a great song, and I now have it stuck in my head.

I'm a big Billy Joel fan.

Clearly 'Pressure' is his bestest, closely followed by 'Angry Young Man'.

I'd like Mr Joel to update 'We didn't start the fire'. When I studied the Cold War at university I tended to rely on it in order to get certain events chronologically correct.

They may be an alien concept to a grubby Northerner such as yourself, but baths are entirely awesome.
