Wow.

I'll listen after I've finished listening to the Adam & Joe BBC 6 radio show on listen again.

EDIT: Ooh er, that sounds a bit obsessive doesn't it?

Given that I downloaded 4 different versions of the same radio show on sunday in order to get "the best" version, I would say that you dont' sound obsessive.

Anyway, I SHALL LISTEN TO THIS. But it will be done in pain, as I think one life left is gash.

If you mean a duo who think they're funny, but aren't, then yes.

Oh, come on, Bogies was a work of brilliance. As was doing a superb Crystal Maze ripoff, knowing full well that the target audience is far too young to get half of the references.

BANNED.

Their XFM radio show was a work of art.

Everyone should listen to Adam and Joe on Radio 6 (via iPlayer, as it is on when anyone sane would be sleeping in on a saturday) - it is ace.

Or the podcast, if you can't face 3 hours of them.

A lot of the music they play is absolute gash. The only reason it gets air time is because it uses bitcrushed drums and square wave style synths. Woooo1! Dead Retro, yeah?

Good composition shines through, not matter what the technical restraints. Unfortunately most chiptunes are made by poor composes and so I imagine that they only reason people like them is becasue of the sounds used...

But the Free Market Economy section is always brilliant right? (Though I think the last episode was one of my weaker tunes)

Anyway what do you know? You're just a giraffe with laser eyes!

I hadn't heard Adam & Joe's radio show in yonks, but this thread coincided with going to mate's where we both ate chillie, did some writing and listened to the full three hour show. I thought it was ace.

I liked:

"Text the nation!
Text text the nation!
What if I don't want to?
Text the nation!
Text text the nation!
It just doesn't matter - just text!
Text! Text!
Can I use email?
Text! Text!
Yes! Or use email!
Text the nation!
Text text the nation!"
etc.

And their disection of the Songsmith video and Special Editions was pretty top too. I require further information on how this "Steven!" - "Just coming!" thing came about, however.

Ooh! Ta for that TossrStu! Aceness! :D

Slightly crushed that they didn't do the obvious "STEVEN!" sex scene + "Just coming!" climax gag, though.

I don't know which bit that is, but it was probably RUBBISH!!1

As an example; The nrrrrd grrrrrrrl remix.... they took an already rubbishish tune and just played really slow, boring squarewave-style chords under it. In any other case most people would go "this is rubbish" but because it "sounded" chiptuney, it got air time. The first song they played was very good.

Would you guys consider things like Cannon Fodder, Speedball 2 and Streets of Rage era music to be "chip tunes" ?

Cannon Fodder definitely not Chip Tune because it's samples. S.O.R. might feature some chip stuff. Zero Wing is definitely chip tune. FM chip rather than AY or SID but still chip.

Anyway the Free Market Economy section is obviously the bestest bit because it's mine. Silly Laser Eye Giraffe.

The lasers see through everything and find the truth of every situation, Mr Candy Floss man.

Anyway, the Amigas soundchip happened to "support" samples, in a way. So how aren't they valid tuneeeeeeees? :(

Pod: taking the fun out of everything since 1997.

I like the Nrrrd Grrrl song.

Chiptune is specifically generated sound rather than a recorded sound from elsewhere. Just because you can record a sound on something doesn't make it that something. Or something.

Candyfloss > Laser Eyes. Offical. So says me. And I'm always right. So there.

Goodness! It seems that Joe (along with Edgar Wright) has been tapped up to co-write the first of Spielberg and Jackson's Tin Tin films after Steven Moffat left to showrun Doctor Who:

Indeed. Ken Korda must feel quite betrayed.

Quite looking forward to this film. I really likes TinTin. They need that bloke to shout out, "Herge's Adventures of Tin-Tin!" at the start like in the cartoon though.

I don't have the patience to listen to a whole three hour show of anything, and I can't stand the BBC recordings resonate.

Though this tickled me, so I uploaded it.
