I bought Skate 1 a few months ago and have barely touched it, even though I really enjoyed the demo.

*runs downstairs to start download*

I hope it will be good, I'm somewhat concerned that they seem to be losing direction though. I'm pretty sure that by number 3 it will feature Bam pushing Jonny Knoxville around in a wheelbarrow or some bollocks.

From what I've heard you can get off your skateboard in this one. That's when the Tony Hawk games started getting shit.

can't you prime live to download from the website now? Shame it can't turn the xbox on for you too.

You can and yes, some kind of wake on LAN would be quite handy.

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games ... &of=0&sb=1

Anyone in the UK can go there and log on with your passport account to get it automatically downloaded next time you turn your 360 on (or straight away if it's on and connected)

The demo is gold only for now, so Jonarob's technically getting something for his cash if nothing else.

Cunt! :'( I'd like to add, I don't resent paying the subscription fee, I just think it should be free.

Also, excellent. Downloading now. I never got into the original Skate because I'd just got my funbox and loads of games came out and I had to play them and never got to play it and then I went home and ate cake and went to bed.

er, also also, Duds, I still haven't posted MC to you, you may have noticed. I PROMISE it'll be done soon. EXTREMELY busy during Post Office opening hours, and afterwards.

The good news is it's worth posting it to the original address again now since I'm back there tomorrow.

Would have been today except for a really vicious little stomach bug.

Thoughts:

Don't like 'woah dude you just got out of the slammer'.

Messy graphics.

Landings are way more fussy now. I'm spacking up most of my tricks in the landing.

On-foot controls are *sob*.

Other than that, it's Skate innit?

Agree entirely with everything Blucey says. I thought it was just me, but the graphics do seem a little bit worse than Skate's, which were lovely. And running on foot feels unresponsive and a bit shit, but it's a nice addition either way I suppose.

I'm not one for obsessing over frame rates but every time you fall off it slows to a fucking crawl. Other than that though I like it, they've tweaked something and made it feel a little better, not sure if it's the camera angle or what but something is different. I can see that being able to move obstacles around to set stuff up will add a lot of replay value too.

Yeah I thought the graphics seemed below par in comparison to the original but I wasnt sure if it was because it was trying to be more detailed or if I've rose-tinted specs of the first game.

Other than that yeah the on foot stuff seems a bit lame, I had no problem with landings though.
Also why cant you change the height of your player?
Quite a novel demo in how it gives you extra time for achieveing goals.

I might crack the first one out again at some point. I've literally almost done nothing with it because I'm not very good.

Feels worse to me, and im a massive fan of skate

the graphics are definitely poorer, and I doubt it will be tweaked before release.
I dont like the camera angle as much and the analog control feels like there is some kinda smoothing algorithm going on or something which I dont like.

I'll buy it, but when its half price.

also, I preferred the 30 minute demo of the first one, this one leaves you about 5 mns free time if you complete all the challenges = balls.

Been playing the original Skate since the Skate 2 demo came out and it has finally, this evening, clicked! Wahoo! It's now officially fucking awesome and every bit as good as I thought it was, beyond its difficult exterior. Once you're comfortable with the controls, it makes even the original Tony Hawk's game look like a pocket of Kangaroo spunk. It's stingy as fuck with the achievements, though. Hope to rinse the single player ones by the time Skate 2 comes out a week on Friday...

The only thing that clicked for me was the bones in my thumbs. I have no desire to start playing it again at all.

I just couldn't get used to the controls properly. I can do the basic stuff, but anything more than that and I just lose all coordination (much like real skating).

I have d/l the demo of this, I never played the original though, and haven't played the demo yet, so can't really comment on either.

I loved the first game but never really progressed very far in the career side of it. I'd always just end up putting it on and spending ages trying to do some trick on a little ledge somewhere. So I'm not really sure that I'll be getting this new one for a while, even though the idea of being able to move stuff around appeals as does the fact that it references lots of stuff that appeals to the skateboard nerd part of me.

I hadn't until the other day. Play it for a good few hours and you'll realise how fun it is. The controls are something I really struggled with as well, but they get easier as you play more. Then you realise how much fun it is setting a marker at the top of a flight of stairs and perfecting your grind down the hand rail over and over again. Awesome.

Yeah, I respect Skate utterly, I'm just shit at it. I imagine other people might have the same problem with a Forza (or more likely a Grand Prix Legends).

That said, I'm very glad I own it and an hour punting round the skate park just pissing about is still fun.

I liked it when I was good at it at the beginning. When I'm asked to string shit together I go all spaccy and flimsy.

Yeah, if they could find a way for the game to reward you for more casual play rather than three-hundred fucking trick long lines it would be great.

I've never really found Skate to be that difficult and once you've learnt how to "pump trannies" :DD you're pretty much unstoppable. Having said that, it is very easy to do a shuvit instead of a kickflip when you're playing them shitty Simon says S.K.A.T.E. challenges. And aye, it is pretty stingy with the achievement points but half of that's down to me spending most of my time pissing around sessioning kerbs and bombing hills.

Not sure what to make of Skate 2, I like being able to move things around and can see that being a potential source of amusement when you're playing with your friends in freeplay mode, and I really like being able to get off my board as that was a huge source of frustration at times. Other than that there doesn't seem to be any huge reason to upgrade so I'll probably just wait till the price drops.

You're alright, I'm not a Weegie. I'm 30(ish) miles west of the city.

I keep meaning to do this http://www.subcrawl.co.uk/ (from the links page). It'll likely end up in liver failure or a good old fashioned chibbing though.

Right, I ahev played the demo of this. Easily the best thing on it is the breakdown it gives you of horrific injuries.

I did read somewhere (probably EG) that there's going to be a special mode where you have to go downhill and cause as many injuries to yourself as possible.

You can pre-order this for £33.06 as long as you order before 12 noon today, apply code "JAN10" for 10% off.

Myself, I still haven't got around to playing the first game, but I've been meaning to pick it up.
