I started doing this this morning to annoy Ange, but I thought it might be fun to annoy you lot, too. Basically the rule is that you pick any old song and adapt the words in any number of tenuous ways to make it into a Christmas song. Earlier I was singing Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You' but with the last word changed to 'Christmas'.

Anyway, here's my first effort (to the tune of 'No Limits' by 2 Unlimited) :

Quote:
I Like Christmas

Let me hear you say Yeah!
Let me hear you say Yeah!

Yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes I like Christmas!
Yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes I like Christmas!

Yes, it's Christmas we'll reach for mince pies
No trifle too deep, no spruce tree too high
Yes, it's Christmas, lots of presents to buy
We drink what we want, lots of whiskey to try

Yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes I like Christmas!
Yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes yes yes, yes yes I like Christmas!

I am glad that this thread has been treated with the disdain it deserves...

Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way sleighride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Eating everything in my stride
Don't need missel, don't need toe
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, booze will flow
My friends are gonna be there too
I'm on the highway to Yule
No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a cheeseboard, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me round
Hey santa, payed my dues
Playing in a christmas band
Hey momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the winterland
I'm on the highway to Yule
(don't stop me)
And I'm going down, all the way down
I'm on the highway to Yule

It's missing the line 'turkey turkey turkey turkey' where the 'techno techno techno techno' bit used to be.

I normally do this but replace the words with Helen's full name. She mostly ignores me.

Why do women do this when we're being hilarious? :(

With the humblest of apologies to Leonard Cohen...

Quote:
Well I heard there was a sacred chord
That Santa played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for tinsel, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The booze, the pies
The baubles fall and the family rise
The gleeful kids opening all their presents
All their presents
All their presents
All their presents
All their presents

Well your tree was strong but you needed proof
You saw her wrapping on the roof
Her beauty and the presents overthrew you
She stacked them on her kitchen chair
And she broke wishbones and she did her hair
And in a stocking she left all the presents
All the presents
All the presents
All the presents
All the presents

Well Santa I've been really good
Behaved myself and I've lit this pud
I even left you out a glass of sherry
I've seen your sleigh in the sky at night
And Rudolph's nose was shining bright
It's cold but you've brought them all their presents
All their presents
All their presents
All their presents
All their presents

Well there was a time when you let me know
What presents I would find below
The tree, but now you buy me nothing, do you?
And remember when I wrapped that book?
And a chocolate dove hid in a nook
And you just cried as they were crappy presents
Crappy presents
Crappy presents
Crappy presents
Crappy presents

Well maybe I've still got receipts
But all I've ever wrapped, my sweet
Were things I thought you'd like, so tell me, do ya?
And if I hear you cry at night
It's not that I did it all right
It's a cold and it's a broken set of presents
Set of presents
Set of presents
Set of presents
Set of presents

All the presents
All the presents
All the presents
All the presents
