Just want to reconfirm that I'm definitely going, and as it's my day off I don't mind what time we're meeting up. I'm going to have to watch my drinking though, I'm set to be in elf costume the following day for the Children's library Christmas party on Tuesday! :S

Well if we can decide that at least then there's no problem with meeting you at the station at the appropriate time, as I'll be getting the train down as well.

Executive decision based on earlier contributions, we'll meet in The Rummer Tavarn. It looks like people will be showing up from around 5pm or so. We'd best plan on spending at least a few hours there, so everyone can gather before we move on.

I am 95% sure I will be attendence now, unless I get some bad news at the vets tomorrow. I will also be catching the train down; my trains home are either 10pm or 12:30am. MyFinger, what are your travel plans?

Well the train gets in at 1.30pm, then it's off to the hotel to drop stuff off, then a wander around the Christmas market I think. The pub is between the station and hotel, so probably better to meet there than have to backtrack?

I'll not be due to officially knock off until 4.30 and I've got a meeting now with a guy at four which usually takes about an hour and a half, then back from St. Mellon's to Roath through rush hour traffics, so I'll not be there straightaway. Probably 6.30 is a reasonable time to aim for.

I'll be there. I can give lifts home to Newp, Cwmbran, Pontypool as I'm gonna have to drive. I won't be late late though what with having to be compus mentis in work on Tuesday! I have looked into public transport to work tomorrow, I have to leave my house at 5.30am to get into the office for 8.00am (my start time) so that's a no-go.

In an unrelated issue, I don't see what's wrong with "Knock-off Nigel". He seems like my kind of guy.

Ah, never mind then, didn't realize you were arriving so soon.

I am in theory able to stay until just before 11pm, as the last train home is quarter past. Though if I do stay that long I suspect I'll be getting the train in the following day *hic*

Aha! I win! My turn to be bollocksed in your car, for a change.

And now, the Bluffer's Guide to Cardiff city centre:
Attachment:
cardiff.png

The commercial area in Cardiff is basically in an L shape, shown in blue on the map. At one end of the L is Cardiff Central station, then one arm of the L runs along St Mary's Street, a broad semi-pedestrianised street with vehicle access only for buses and taxis. The two arms meet infront of Cardiff Castle, which is also where the Rummer Tavern is (top-left blue pushpin). The other arm is Queen Street, a pedestrianised road. Most of the major shops are either on Queen Street directly or in one of the large malls that are joined to it (St David's Arcade, The Capital Arcade, and Queen's Arcade). The Christmas market is in the pedestrianised section around the other blue pushpin in the screenshot.

Hope this helps!

You look like your NXE avatar... only not as tanned!

I'm not working tomorrow so I can't break the trains - I would warn people that today the new timetables have taken effect so some services might be different. ;)

OOoh! I just remembered, it's my payday too! :D

Shame I'm working the following day. Or rather slaving over the demands of hyperactive children at a nightmarish Xmas party-time of seemingly no ending.

Hmmm, I am afraid my attendence to this fine event has to be questionable at the moment. My dog is back in the vets right now having as second amputation performed on his tail because the first one has become too badly infected. Depending on how he is I might have to stay here tonight and look after him.

Due to credit card fraud issues, I may not be able to make it.

Due to not having petrol to get there and back.

Updates to followas and when they become available.
