It's the start of the knockout round. For those not keeping an eye on the discussion thread, competing players are now expected to 'show their workings', and qualify just why they've chosen their track. Only one choice can be made from the two, so please make the effort to listen to both songs before voting, not just going for the one you've heard of.
Note: Due to the voting kicking off late, the voting period has now been extended until the 23rd of December at 11pm, which gives around eleven days for the scores to tot up. At that point, there will be a short Christmas truce in the trenches of the Song Wars, with the semi-finals kicking off on the 27th of December (all choices being supplied by participants permitting).
But tish and pish, on with the songs:
Lucky Boys Confusion - Something to Believe
"I've picked this track because it reminds me of an awesome teacher we had at high school, and the conversations we used to have when we were supposed to be doing our proper work. He was an great chap and respected by pretty much every student at that school, which at my school is high praise indeed. He helped to shape my opinions on a great many things, including how to form opinions. Now sadly deceased, but fondly remembered by most of the students in my year."
The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
"I stumbled into the majesty of The Hold Steady when their track 'Girls Like Status' stole the show at the end of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, and since then I've followed their work intently. Falling confortably into line with my theory that all good bands should be able to pass for the IT department of a small New Jersey textiles manufacturing plant, this track finds the band at the peak of their powers. Best of all, it's got a killer opening that means I still love the track even after six months of having it as my mobile ringtone."
So,The Lucky Boys, or The Steady Holds. But which is better? There's only one way to find out!
