2008 Bezzie Game Polls

I've gathered the suggestions in the Best Game thread into categories for nominations (in the spoiler space). I figured I'd set up one poll per category and one poll with all the games in. I also think we should send a printed certificate to the developers of our chosen Game of the Year.

However, I think we need some other polls too. Worst Game and Biggest Disappointment spring to mind, and I would like to seek nominations on those categories. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Most Divisive Game of the Year - Nominations: Mirrors Edge; Far Cry 2; (Some others that have slipped my mind).

I didn't actually put my top five games of the year in the other thread because I was actually waiting to see what I thought of Animal Crossing and the thread was started before it was released but as it is now out I will give you my five suggestions. I am sure nobody will vote for any of them but myself and possibly Romanista, but there ya go.

Tedium-'em-up.

It's a mixture of the world's 'lite'est RPG and The Sims. You run tediously around a tiny little village doing mindless, repetitve tasks for ungrateful animals (the other residents) in order to earn money to buy crap for your house.

It's ridiculously, disturbingly compulsive for the first few days until the crushing realization that there's utterly no point to the game and nothing to accomplish sets in. That the animals cuss you up for not playing enough/playing too early or late or whatever/not coming to see them enough doesn't really help things.

Compared to The Sims, it's pants, as at least The Sims let you make people have sex and then burn the resulting children in the garage.

Oh, you should see my Mister Psychopath and his house. The basement is a dungeon in which he imprisons nannies and plays darts, at the back of his house is a large, fireproof portakabin in which he burns children (which he gets from the adoption agency), and at the rear of the garden is an ever-increasing row of gravestones from his victims. Every night, the garden is absolutely crawling with the red (from 'death by fire', natch) ghosts of children.

I am. I found this excellent house on the Sims 2 Exchange that managed a basement (!!!!) and it was already fully and tastefully decorated so I just plonked it down and got to 'work'.

biggest surprise? If I'm honest, Burnout Paradise. I love the older games (crash mode in particular) and really didn't want the free-roaming stuff to work. I was wrong though, cos it is all kinds of awesome.

possibly fallout 3 for my suprise. Mainly because I dont like RPGS and also didnt like mass effect either but I love Fallout 3.
