Count me in!

I can be there for about six ish and O'neill's is sensible as it's nice and easy to find.

Mmmmmm . . . .Monday night drinks.

O'neill's is on the corner of St Mary Street and Wood Street.

Wood Street is pretty much at the front of the station (once you get past the buses)

You might not have been that shitfaced confused; until the summer there were two.

The smaller one burnt down so you may have been thinking of that one. It was around by St John's church sort of near the rear of Howell's.

Ah, that's the one. Yeah, I do remember there being stuff on here about it burning down. I didn't realise there was another one though, so I just thought maybe they'd reopened it.

There used to be one down off Queen St somewhere as well. Near Charles St I think. Good to see in the 8 years since Glenda was last involved in a Cardiff drink the taste in watering holes is still just as bad :D

Once went for a drink with some anarchists, one of whom works at Celtic Manor and was ragging on the place for about 20 minutes. Then my missus piped up that she'd had a lovely lunch with various politicians there that very afternoon.

The pussy apologised. Never been myself, loks impressive from the M4 but can't say I'm that arsed. And golf is ostentatious snooker.

I grew up in Ely. You can ask DrG how much like a scally retard I sound, but be warned, I am very hard from life on the mean streets and very easily offended.

I have to point out my attendence here is slightly at-risk depending on how my dog is doing.

Spoilered for somewhat gross stuff:
I shut the tip of his tail in the door on Sunday night; I nicked off about an inch of flesh but left a half-inch of exposed bone. Yes, I was nearly sick too. The vet had to amputate a few inches of tail to make a wound that would heal (as there wasn't enough flesh to suture). Since then, I've been working at home trying really really hard to stop him chewing at it or wagging and banging it on stuff. He's already opened his sutures up once.

He gets wound up when I'm not around, so depending on how he is doing by early next week I may not be able to come out and play. Hopefully, though, I'm just being silly; it is five days away after all.

Aww! I'm sure he will have started to heal properly by then though. *crosses everything* :)

Can't you just get the vet to stick one of those lampshade things on his tail like they do with the neck? That'd be great, you could stand him up on his backside then and use him as a centrepiece in the lounge.

Just because you put a lampshade on him, won't actually make him light up. :p

Anyway, hope he's ok and you can join us next week Rich.

No good reason, it was just somewhere easy to find (with cheap grub too) to start off in. Pitch an alternative.

Prince of Wales (across from O'Neills, cheap food, no fucking music)
Gatekeeper (just up from O'Neills, same two positives)

If you don't fancy Wetherspoon's, the Queen's Vaults and the Model Inn were both decent enough the last time I was in them, which was a while ago. Not sure on their 'deafening music' situation either. Alas, the Pen and Wig is a bit of a hike...

Haha, no, although it does look like it. In a fit of mad MacGuyver skills, my vet cut a syringe down to size and taped it to the end of his tail with a few loops of very sticky surgical tape. It acts as a bit of armour for the stitches, meaning they can take small knocks when he wags his tail. Which won't be very often if he stays this sad.

Speaking of which, I got talking to the vet, and there is nothing on the market better than a syringe for doing this. As I found out last night though, the syringe isn't ideal because if he does start bleeding again, the little hole on the end where the needle goes lets the blood out. What we need is a device shaped a bit like a lightbulb, sealed on the end (to keep blood in), with some small holes further up (for ventilation of the wound) and a narrow neck to fit over the tail and be taped on. The shape of the bulb would lessen the chance of the wound touching the edges of the shield. Now all we need is a medical supplies firm to go into business with. This time next year, MyFinger, we'll be millionaires!

If you had a stick, just shorter than his tail, and attached it at his arsehole and just shy of the wound, wouldn't it keep the tail extended and stiff, preventing him from chewing it and also preventing it lashing around so much when he wags it?

'fraid teh Queen's Vaults burnt down last year. I think it was that one anyway, or was it the Park Vaults?

Plus the Pen & Wig is always rammed.

Goat Major or the Cottage are quiet and comfy pubs, though The Cottage is occassionally full of middle aged wankers on work do's. The Model Inn is alright, and Dempseys good as well. The Rummer Tavern may be the best bet though, not to busy on a Monday and no music. We can always poke about a bit anyway.

The Queen's Vaults is on Westgate Street... and it certainly hasn't burned down unless it did so in the last week when I've not been there to notice. The Park Vaults was behind the old (and tiny) Carphone Warehouse on Queen Street and I'm surprised if it has, given said Carphone is now a trendy clothing store or something and you could just lean on the walls in Carphone to bust your arm through into the pub to grab a pint. If I recall correctly.

Goat Major and Cottage both risk us offending ancient (well, late middle age) working class blokes who'll summon strength they've forgotten they had to pummel us for disturbing their quiet drinks.

Dempsey's I'd forgotten, good point.

The Rummer I always found a bit expensive.

Pubs:

Goat Major - fine pub, no problem. Just don't shriek like a twat and you are fine.

Dempsey's - not quiet, but not shit.

Rummer - decent pub, good position and you have to stand out the friont to smoke, and must tolerate the procession of attractive underdressed people going to clubs. The horror!

Queens Vaults - forget it, anything doen the side of the stadium, or the bottom end of St Mary's (save for Kitty Flynn's) are haounts my clients visit. Can't go, simple as that.

City Arms - If you want a pub with Faith No More and Carter USM on the jukebox, drink here.

Outside bet: Pen and Wig. Harder to find, a brilliantly fun place to be with the right crowd - just ask Pete. You can flirt whilst buying a pint, most times. Good vibes.

Just off Queen Street, the Sainsbury's end on the side road where Barclay's is, there's a place called either Barracuda or Buffalo Bar. Buffalo I think. Bit of a snazzy place and full of pretty people, I nonetheless enjoyed an evening there. Although on Monday I shan't be pilled off my cheesebox and spliffing the fuck out of myself on the decking out the back, so it might not be as good this time.

You're wasting your time coming, then. We're all cunts.

Jeans? No-one said we were going posh. Can't I just wear my trackie?

And yes. Cunts we are. Well I am, as is SnowAngel and DrG. Can't speak for the rest!

I'd say City Arms, Rummer maybe and we can always walk on to Pen & Wig, it's not *that* far. Also fucking agreed on the awfulness of St Mary's *cough* bottom end and the other side of the stadium.

Oh that's fine. I'm sure we'll all be wearing clothes at the start of the evening at least.
