Well, I finally caved and bought this for my (fairly) new PS3, and what a fucking disappointment it is. From everything I've read and seen online I was expecting to be genuinely blown away by the visuals, but honestly, there's very little to distinguish it from Forza. And the gorgeous good lucks it claimed to have really is the only thing that could've possibly made it a more interesting game, because it's exactly the same as every other GT, ever.
I just won the first race by about a whole lap (a two lap race), in a car just as powerful as the rest of the field, despite spinning out a couple of times and using the handbrake for a laugh. If you're going into a corner behind some AI cars, don't bother braking, keep your foot down and smash into the back of the AI. That'll slow you down nicely, allowing for an overtake when you come out of the bend.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Also, I was going to do a tongue in cheek writeup comparing this and the recently released GTI Club+ for Snappy Gamer. Would people be interested in reading that? Or do you reckon Gran Turismo fans would take it too seriously? Okay, that last one was a stupid question.

I'm glad to read that GT5:P is rubbish, because it will save me a lot of money, it's the only thing I'd buy a PS3 for.

Actually, the PS3 does have a lot of games worth buying one for. But I'd still wait for a price drop. GTI Club+, for example, is great fun. And the PixelJunk games. A lot of the PSN stuff you can't get anywhere else, in fact.

I'm sure it does, but GT5 is the only reason I'd buy it.

If you're playing it by crashing into people you're probably better off with GTI Club anyway.
But no, it's certainly a disapointment, mainly because of not fixing the genuine flaws of the series, like having to grind the same race again and again, a complete lack of damage, putting back all the features they've taken out since GT1...
Then again what do I know, I thought GTI Club was dull.

I don't really play it crashing into people, I was just illustrating the old bumper cars gameplay that they still haven't fixed. It's not a patch on Forza 2, basically.

Yes, GT5p was fun for about a day or two, then it occurred to me that it wasn't actually very fast - even in the cockpit view the cars all felt so similar in actual speed terms that, not for the first time, I felt like a GT game was lying to me. And it can fuck off with the masochistic grinding it expects you to do. Dull dull dull. I doubt I'll be buying the full version when it arrives toward the end of next year.

Although most of the sense of speed problem is because the demo sticks you in a bunch of crap.
