It got a favourable score in N-Gamer too, but I've not read it yet.

Only 80% in the official magazine - I say only, because I think there's a little bit of inflation and "go go get it!" in their recommendations. But not a great review, because they were questioning the longevity - well then, y'know, leave it a day or two before commenting. Plus they evaluated Wii air drumming vs Rock Band 'real' drumming and got a little confused, with the air being "a slightly more realistic, rhythmic experience" despite there being "no substitute for really hitting pads". I think really they prefer Rock Band but didn't want to say so.

eurogamer has an in depth review, and it is rather damning
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=293632

"The game is made for middle class parents, to buy for their children and sound cultural"

almost cancelling my reservation now

it was on the gadget show the other day, the talked about for like 5 seconds and spazzed their arms around playing nowt. Methinks that they were contracturally obliged to mention it. Oh and Suzy's Mii looks exactly like that of Mrs DavPaz

Edit, mildly off topic (a lot actually). Have you seen that Wii arcade joystick on engadget. That looks like a decent bit of kit

No plans on buying any new Wii stuff at all. Nothing on the horizon remotely interests me. Still get lots of use of the Wii fit at my house, but the last game a hammered was Mario Galaxy, last Christmas.

Where has Nintendos awesome gone?

I'm thinking/hoping that Nintendo's awesome only seems to come out at the beginning of the year.
After getting a wii when they first came out, there was nothing to buy after a few months (and some of the stuff I bought early on was out of desparation). Then Super Mario Galaxy came out about this time last year, and there was some pretty good stuff at the start of this year too (No More Heroes, Pro Evolution Soccer).
I haven't played anything on my wii for about 3 months now, which is pretty sad considering my 360 was dead for the last two weeks.

The Wii is catering too heavily for the casual market, and leaving the old fans out in the cold.

I still have big love for my DS though. And bigger love for my Edge card.

I am wondering why I haven't sold mine.

Last thing I got for it was excite truck. A combination of prices and games drought has kept me back from anything more.

I've been playing Boom Blox, My Sims Kingdom and marioKart these last few weks. Still not completed Mario Galaxy, not even seen the Wii Zelda game and Animal crossing on teh Horizon. Coupled with LBP and Viva Pinata I've quite enjoyed the last couple of months' releases.

For me it's partly because it was a present, and partly because it does get used for Wii fit.

I disliked Super Mario Galaxy (a lot), but have recently got back in to Mario Kart Wii. Pro Evo never really stuck, though I thought it was a great idea. Lack of decent online play kinda annoys me after being used to Live. What's the point in playing against Bobby if I can't mock him when I score?

I have Rayman's Raving Rabbids 2, and love what I have played, but rarely have the opportunity.

I also have Boom Blox, but it seems a very haphazard game to start off with. Maybe need to play it a bit more.

I like Wii Fit though.

:)

Yes. Mrs Z uses it almost daily which encourages me to use it more often, the body test/weighing bit is great to keep track of how well you're doing with your dieting/exercise. There's a wide range of activities and some fun balance games. I'd say it's well worth the £70.

I felt a bit like Maris Janssons yesterday.
He is the Latvian conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
Gramaphone declared it the best Orchestra in the world this week.

So this was a good thing.
I was waving my Wiimote.
And the orchestra played Carmen, the great Opera by Georges Bizet
My wife Celine played the Violin. Osama some horn and Zardoz did a bit of percussion.
I got 68 points, and was very happy.

Classical music sounds quite good in the Midi Nintendo chose.
Pop songs less.
But Midi makes the game flexible, allowing for all those instruments.

I say game, but i'm not sure of it.
It has three mini games: the aforementioned Orchestra, a standard rhytm game with cowbells, albeit with few songs and a Wiiplay-like quiz, making you choose Mii's with the right pitch, or putting them in the right order, which makes good fun.

But the main thing is just jamming.
While real artists frown upon Guitar Hero,
You have far more control there over a single instrument than in Wii Music.

The variety here, makes it fun though, and also the arrangements to make different songs of the same basics,
And playing all the different parts in a row.
One person on the flute, and one on the drums is excellent fun.
In a very different way than Rockband.
The drums by themselves are special too, as you use the Wii Fit boards as foot pedals.

Other good things: The first Wii game i have seem without a seperate friends list
Which i noticed when one of the world famous Pickford Bros appeared in my list.
Still, you can only send them videos.
Mii integration is as allways wonderful, Having a band full of people you know makes it a bit more fun

Bad things: You're not that much in control, I would love more Guitar Hero like stuff.
The music sounds rather bad, and the selection is very limited.
Surely Nintendo, with all that DS money, you could have licensed some songs.

A conclusion is hard to draw, and probably depending on your expectations.
If you're expecting Guitar Hero with Mii's you are going to be dissapointed.
If you're want to have some fun with friends making a song together, and actually learning a few things about music too, you're going to like it.
If you always wanted to direct a big orchestra like me, you're going to like it for some swallow fun.

Ouendan remains the best rhytm game in history, and Guitar Hero/Rockband do the rockstar thing miles better, but I've got a few nights of fun of it, and felt more that i was doing something with music than i did with the aforementioned games. I am happy that i overcame my doubts and spent 30 pounds on it. It's does what it sets do do rather well, and if you can appreciate that subniche of music games, i can recommend it. Some of you are going to hate it though.

790 bananas
3/5
7/10

(jonarob if you want you can put this review on snappy gamer or so)

Is it worth £250, though? Because that's what I'd have to spend to get it. I really do think it'd be a useful tool for Ange and myself, but I can't bring myself to spend that much cash on it when I know I probably wouldn't use it for anything else.

Probably not then.

Unless you fancy Mario Galaxy / Mario Kart / Twilight Princess which are all defos for the system. It was also handy having a Web browser at close hand, but you have to pay for Opera these days.

What's £350 compared to the cost of getting married. Buy cheaper invites and grow your own flowers.

Or don't buy it and die of fat.

I have been playing Wii music and I give it:

8.8/10

It is just so much fun! It is pure fun and nothing more - I had a six-piece family band comprised of myself, grandparents, sister, Craig and my brother playing a jazz rendition of Daydream Believer in a high rise tower block, and then arranged a steel band reggae version of Do-Re-Mi on the back of a truck, played by John Lennon, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Roy Rorbison and George Michael.

You CAN send videos to a friend (and you don't have to swap codes for the new game - it automatically tells you if your friends have the game) and they can join in with your video and send it back. It all works! It all works perfectly. The only thing is I wish there were more tunes available. I believe there are 55. Actually, maybe that's enough. There are plenty of instruments (60+ I think) and you can play any song in any style - mixing traditional tunes with different genres is great fun. As Craig said yeserday, he hasn't just smiled so much whilst playing a game in a long, long time.

I give it a big thumbs up.

haha, no, add anything!

It was our very first try so it is 'rough'. I mean rubbish. I've had a few more goes now and I am happy with what I have made (I say 'I' because I got up early to play it - yeah, I know, how sad) so Craig was stl sleeping when I made some more this morning). Ooh, and send us a video of yours!
