This is a strange one, but no real biggie. When I turn this computer on, the picture blinks on and off and won't stay on the monitor for any length of time. What I usually do is restart the computer about 4 times, then the picture becomes steady and on all the time. It's as if the monitor or gfx card has to 'warm up'. It's started since I stuck the wireless card in. It will do the same if I leave the computer unattended for a while, and again, fixes itself after a restart. Any ideas?

Open her up and make sure you haven't dislodged the GFX card in some way. It would make sense if it's only been since you made alterations last time. Or it's overheating now because of less space for the air to circulate.

Certainly what I'd suggest too. Might be worth just taking the graphics card out and re-seating it too.

If it was the graphics card it'd either work, or not work. And when it doesn't work the POST beeps should sound off. I'd put money on it being a monitor fault.

<edited for clarification>

OK, I'll try all of the above and see if anyone has a monitor going.

Thank you very much.

If you can try another monitor...I'm with Sheepeh on this one, sounds like the monitors on its way out.

Best to find out if its still in its warranty, so you can get it sorted before its too late.

Have you tried just turning the monitor off and back on to see if that works? When my monitor was on its way out I'd actually have to pull the plug out for 2 mins and then put her back in for it to work.
