Hullo!

Picked this up over the weekend and you can see my thoughts here:

http://www.snappygamer.com/2008/10/13/l ... iew-multi/

It's every bit as good as the other two in my opinion, perhaps better because you don't know what's coming up due to it being tied to a movie storyline. And playing the missions through as the villains = awesome!

Anybody else got it/getting it?

Dimrill says it's the best of the lot, and he likes the other two.

I appreciate I'm in a minority here, but I have to say I really didn't like Lego Star Wars so I shall be avoiding this like the plague.

I wasn't too keen either, it seemed too easy and I'm not into replaying stuff in order to collect things. Apart from Crackdown to get orbs.

This. Also - too simplistic, which made it, frankly, completely boring. "Press button A sixty million times, then occasionally press button B at things that look like they might be Force use-able"

Bah! I think it's definitely one for people who've enjoyed the previous titles, but I enjoy the simplicity. It's relaxing and fun!

Glad you said it! I really don't like them either. I've tried, god knows I've tried, but I just don't find them in anyway enjoyable, other than for the cut-scenes. Even the presence of Batman can't convince me. They're the 'wrong kind of sandbox', for me somehow.

I think I'd appreciate the sand box aspect a bit more if the camera positioning wasn't so constantly hateful.

i picked it up, mainly just to review it.

I got very bored of the 'oh look it's a scene from a film but in Lego' thing with the Star Wars games.

Only prob, i bought Blazing Angels 2 on the same day and would rather play that. bah!

I played the DS version of Lego Star Wars, and after spending ages breaking all the destroyable furniture in the first bit to get the Lego blocks thought "But where is the gameplay?" and turned it off. Since then I've shunned the Indiana Jones one even though unlike Star Wars it's based on films I actually like and will probably do so with this.

I'd like to punch the idiot reviewer on some website or other who said this 'eschews the misery of the 1990s Batman and instead focuses on the 1960s Batman campiness'. HARLEY QUINN WAS NOT AROUND IN THE 1960s, YOU KNOW-NOTHING.

Wasn't too hopeful after the disappointing Lego Indy, but I'm completely addicted to this! Spent most of the weekend playing it, leaving poor ol' Mercenaries 2 back on the shelf. Again. :)

I'm not defending the website man who said this (because he probably is rubbish), but I think he was (clumsily) referring to the tone of the game, which unarguably goes for a campy, comedy vibe, rather than the grimness of Batman Returns et al.

Anyway, I loved LBM. Better than Indy, but not as good as Star Wars, I reckon. I think the Lego... series has to evolve; maybe with LBP-style building bits?

Too true.

Meanwhile, Sticklebrick Irreversible is due out on the PS3 next month. I'll let you imagine that anyway you like.

I will be picking this up, or playing through with a friend, smiling at the lego representations of Batman and co, and maxing out the game.

Lego games are easy and joyful.

Hitler saw exterminating the Jews as necessary to cleansing humanity.

I see playing LEGO Batman as necessary to having a good time on a game without having to think too much (my usual fare is puzzle games).

If only the camp internees really did joyfully explode into a cascade of hearts and puzzle pieces, when blugeoned into submission. Hearts, yes.

Conversely I go "That's FUCKING ACE" at all the recognisable bits from the films to the point where I don't really mind that there's very little gameplay in there and light sabre combat is absolutely dreadful (Pinpoint accuracy required with a screaming laser sword of death? I fucking think not. You have to resort to the leap in the air and pound the ground tactic to be sure of de-limbing anyone).

It reminds me very much of Viva Pinata in that there's not that much skill required at all , more dogged persistence than anything, but the ambience and general desire to see what's next keep you playing.

FAO Mr Chris.

My sister replied to your enquiry:

Re availability of LEGO - LEGO Shop at home is the biggest LEGO shop - albeit online. You can find a really wide range of LEGO products here (http://www.legoshop.com)
Most LEGO play themes have a life span of 2 years or so - they go in and out of fashion like many things do. The popular ranges tend to have a longer life expectancy, and within the last couple of years the LEGO City range has been a popular and ongoing theme, and as far as i know that trend is set to continue.
It is true that there are many construction themes featuring in the city range at present, but the beauty of LEGO is that you don't just have to stick to one theme when it comes to building cityscapes - we have some great houses and shops in the present range, and they can all be used with the city products, see the following examples:

http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.as ... n=348&d=70

http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=10185&L ... &ShipTo=UK

http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=10190&L ... &ShipTo=UK

http://shop.lego.com/product/?p=10182&L ... &ShipTo=UK

Additionally the LEGO Company are always happy to hear consumer feedback, so if your friend would like to contact us directly he can register his comments with us by clicking here http://service.lego.com/en-gb/Contactus/Email.aspx
This feedback gets collated in reports each month, which not only go to product developers and designers, but also to people across all parts of the company, including the CEO!

Like I said, I'm not an expert, and I can't really tell you too much about the castle range, but I do know that we really do listen to our consumer feedback and act on it too, so I whole heartedly encourage your friend to let us know what he thinks.

SomethingAwful did a Schindler's List LCD game... you had to direct as many Jews as possible into your factory as possible, while ensuring you still let some go to the concentration camps or else your 'Nazi suspicion' bar would fill and it was game over!

Ha - an excellent PR person's response. Thank her for taking the time to respond! I hadn't realised they had split some of it across other themes - the Lego Creator/exclusives stuff is totally awesome and I wouldn't have known of it otherwise.. :)
