Charlie Brooker has written a show about a series of Big Brother (with the actor Kevin Eldon as a contestant).

Except during the series the UK experiences a Zombie outbreak.

Of course the contestants don't know it happened till eviction night.

This is pants wettingly exciting.

It's just that thing the brain does; you never see something until you've owned it, then suddenly it's everywhere you look. And, um, I was joking with the 'therefore this wins' bit.

It's not in the next couple of weeks, according to radiotimes.com. If it is going to be on over 5 consecutive days, my money's on 27th - 31st.

I just thought it suprising that you could reconigse a car from 1/8th of it being visible for a .30s duration. Truely a skill.

The ol' breadvan's quite distinctive! I also instantly recognised the yellow BMW in this picture as an M3 - the small vent in its front wing was the very first thing I noticed.

So yeah, pretty sad!

Yeah, what's that all about? You can't parody those type of shows on account of them doing it so well themselves. We just sat through an hour of it, hoping it would get better. It didn't. The only reason this got made is because it's Peter Kay. Had anyone else pitched that idea, they would've got told to get to fucking fuck....

Anyway....zombies. Aceness. I'm not sure about the BB bit though, don't know how that will work without being annoyingly over-acted.

Oh, I don't know - some genius lines. Two Up Two down doing "Tragedy - when the feeling's gone...", and Foxy's "You're....needed".

Rank, wasn't it? I lasted about twelve minutes before switching over. If you're hoping for a hilariously scathing parody of a tired television genre ripe for attack, and four of the main characters in it are from that specific tired television genre's most famous show*, you're going to be hugely disappointed. Somewhere, in an alternate universe that is better than ours, the viewing millions were instead treated to a two-hour spin-off of TV Burp. I bet they're mocking us on whatever their equivalent of internet fora is right now.

(*Which is Pop Idol, no matter how frantic the tabloids are to manufacture interest over the virtually identical X Factor.)

As for Dead Set, my Digiguide listing for E4 goes up til the 31st of October, and there's no sign of it yet. However, there is a juicy looking three-hour "To Be Announced" gap on the 31st of October at 10pm, so fingers crossed there. Amazon says the DVD of the series is out on November 3rd, and Wikipedia insists the show is to air in October 2008, so it looks like a good bet.

Hopefully, the new series of Screen Wipe should appear in November.

I expect they're going to try and slip it in, relatively unannounced, and hope the mass public think that Divina really turns into a zombie?

The trailer for this was on C4 last night, and it looks brilliant.

This is going to be so much better than that Peter Kay tripe.

It is! She was the winner of the previous series! And she couldn't act, and the budget was too low, but the idea and the script were brilliant!

Oh, I like that too! Not Survivors though... erm... oh, I rock - it's "Series 9 - The Contenders".

Series 7 - but yes. If you've got the DVD take a look at the alternate ending - it is aceness.

"Series 9 - The Survivors" is the new sequel that will be filmed during the events of the next Beardy Beer Bash.

I thought the Peter Kay thing was sublimely funny in places - particularly awe-inspiring seeing Paul McCartney sing the theme tune to "Home & Away".

Erm.. yeah.. zombies. Cool. Especially if they eat Davina's brains.

I'm thinking that this zombie fad of the last few years might end up doing more harm than good.

yeah I know what you mean, I was looking at my favourite torrents search site and there seems to be 2 new zombie films. Zombies, Zombies, Zombies which sounds like zombie strippers which was shit and also dance of the dead where zombies come out at a fucking prom.

I've also recently seen flight of the living dead which was alright, diary of the dead which I thought was pretty good, [rec] which was excellent.
Ive also go the day of the dead remake to watch, theres too fucking many.

The current trend will have to go some to produce something as spectacularly bad as Video Dead.

It doesn't matter that much how bad they get, but how thick on the ground.

I havent seen video dead but Ive just watched dance of the dead and I feel dirty as fuck. It was seriously one of the worst films ever, list of things wrong with this film.

-zombies driving a car
-someone doing wrestling moves on a zombie
-the zombies liking shit highschool rock music
-a lass turning into a zombie while shes copping on with a lad (bit funny but cringeworthy as fuck)
-zombies jumping out of their graves into the air
-the film says the zombies have came about because the graveyard is next to a nuclear plant, so why does a dissected frog attack a teacher.
-if theres a zombie frog why the total lack of any decent zombie animals

the whole thing is full of stereotype characters who forget there best mate has just been killed within a minute whose first thoughts of knowing these zombies are about is to save people at the prom rather than think fuck me family might be a bit fucked.

But yeah avoid, its not even bad thats its good although it sounds like it, it just smakes you feel so dirty for still watching and not a nice dirty either.

Surely then it's easier to walk over them?

My EPG is now showing this every night this week at 10, followed by a spliced-them-all-together repeat on Saturday.
