I was being weird, I'll give you that. Ah well...

FUCK! It was shaping up to be so fascinating today. I was really looking forward to seeing what you'd do with that information.

I already knew that you'd been targeted and had to use so much willpower not to say "are you sure?" when you told me you weren't blowing yourself up last night. :DD

I really did try and think of ways to get people to target me and use my role.

One idea I had was to on the first day hint that I was some watcher/overlooker which could be either CCTV guy or seer or even a stretch Cult leader. Someone would hopefully want to check me out then boom on the first night.

Another idea (and maybe my stupidest) was to, because on wednesday it was quite slow, role claim as the friendly town terrorist with then angle that I'm trying to save my skin because this way the SK/cult leader/mafia wouldn't target me because I could blow at any time. Only person who could counter claim this would be the town doctor, and we were trying to find him anyway. Then I would of exploded on the first night anyway because people would want to check me out anyway. However, I came round to this being a bit of an obvious ploy plus with Curiosity in the firing line there wasn't a need to liven things up. Then with mafia numbers down it became more important for me to stay alive.

So I really did try to play the role interestingly, just the need for the team became important.

Or what the rest of the town would do since so many people were pointing at you for SK.

There are not many 'leaders' left in there and CG probably wont rally people around him - he and Joans will probably square off for the day

It wasn't an easy role, and you were hamstrung early on by Curiosity taking a warm dive. I'll definitely use it again, I think.

Is the message along the lines of "Nobody something my badgers?" - an attempt to frame Craster?

The last word is definitely badgers, ignoring the first letter and doing a 2-digit shift on all the others. That doesn't do anything for the other words though. I'm assuming each word has a different level of digit shift.

I'd like to add that I haven't even seen the message. All I read was that one word might be 'nobody', one looks a bit like 'badgers' and one is a two-letter word.

Of course, I might be miles off, but it's closer to a decent effort than the fumbling around in the real thread!

:D

You cracked it I think. Keep the first letter the same each time and offset the others by N letters, where N changes from word to word. NOBODY GROOMS MY BADGERS.

If I'd been sharper eyed I'd have gotten that ages ago -- I tried a Ceaserian Shift cypher on it, but hadn't considered keeping the first letter the same.

Oh look at what happens :-)

On and spinglo sponglo! for the annoying git (obviously) - after looking back on yesterday it might have been better for me to get to 5 votes before Sheep-y and he'd have defended me :-)

Also - why the f*ck spend all that time looking at and arguing over a clue the SK leaves behind ?
They are not going to say "Ah ha , its ****" - cause that would be really stupid , its almost like its something 'safe' for them to talk about which means they have posted for the day but havent raised their heads too high so they get lopped off.

So if CG does end up in the noose for today who is actually going to speak tomorrow ? - the thread will be about 3 or 4 pages of people going "umm" and then it'll timeout for the cult to be victorious.

My post above with the cleartext was ages before I got your clue. It was Craster what won it.

Yes, but he hasn't even offended anyone yet. That is out of character... were the killings sufficiently sickening for him to be the SK?

Ahh, Mr Russ amuses me again. After trying his best to make me look suspicious in game 5 due to knowing Zardoz is a tramp... after I'd died and been confirmed as a townie. Now he's saying "The fact that Joans has posted such in depth information smacks of Mr Dave-ism, which was all he did as mafia." ignoring somewhat both game 2, where I played in exactly the same way while a townie (and got ignored), and also my second game as a mafia type.

Oh, Mr Russ.

This day has slowed down big-time. Who are the winners if that happens? The cult. I'd be very suspicious of those either splitting the vote or staying away from voting at all.

Bobbyaro is looking like a cult to me!

Knowing how he plays, I certainly wouldn't want to put any kind of bet on him not being in the cult.
And even if he isn't, I'm not sure his current tactics are really benefitting the town too much. (Certainly not as much as say Craster not being a fool and jumping into a volcano would've, for instance)

I knows, that's what makes it so heartbreaking.

The only hope whoever the seer is has figured out that your death had something to do with their action, and follow it up somehow.

It'd be quite interesting to have a mason role that allowed one induction into the masons per night. If chosen well, it could be a valuble asset to the town. If a mafia type is inducted... less so. Certainly some of the ways it could play out would be... interesting.

I had a similar concept from the other side in VampireScum, in that if the Vamps turned the Serial Killer, he was still the Killer (and would doublecross them). Hence the Vamps couldn't necessarily trust their internal list. Ditto the Masons, if one of them was recruited, he became a Vamp but would still be on the Mason private list.

I like the idea of a game where there's a lot going on under the surface. I keep having ideas about a more ARG style Mafia game, with several factional groupings, shifting loyalties, and more outlandish powers like this "edit past posts" one myop has in this game.

There comes a time when you get bored of trying to convince people and just want the game to move along, even if it means dying yourself.

I was giving the town a genuine alternative to me and Joans, as most people seemed to think we were both innocent. No bites though. Stupid town. I hope they all DIE.

Also Cras, you're a mega douche. :)

I still reckon Lace for cult. Sheepeh for some kind of evil, and probably everyone else that has barely fucking posted this game. Its just typical. The quiet ones win, and awesome antagonists are forced to vote themselves dead just to get the stupified masses to move along.

Indeed. People like Sheepeh, Bobby, Squirt, Jasmine... some of them are bound to be scum, just hiding on the edges of the game as they are.

The question is, where do they go now?

Do they off Joans? Sheepeh? Someone else?

I agree. The awesome loud ones are the ones that die early after causing massive debate.

Though you started it by saying I was trying to be too loud on the first day and getting ten votes stacked against me in a matter of minutes, despite posting something I'd more or less written before I knew what my bleeding role was!

So, swings and roundabouts.

:p

That was an awesome call, being overly helpful is a regular evil person tactic. Still can't believe you managed to sway so many people back from the edge and for so LONG. That was one long frigging day. My postcount is through the roof because of this game.

The problem is now the game is going to die on its feet - none of people who post much are still in the game.

No, but when reading the rules of the game, I decided what the correct tactics for the Town would be (initial aim Mafia, then Cult after a day or two... don't mind the SK as he's your best chance of winning), made a note of them and then basically parroted the post out when the game started. I knew I was Mafia, but I would have made the exact same post had I been a townie.

The problem is now the game is going to die on its feet - none of people who post much are still in the game.

But the problem is that when I, or anyone else, said we should go for someone quiet, people moan that it's unfair to vote for someone just because they've not been at their computer much, or posted much, etc.

Clever Person A - "Ohh, Sheepeh has been on the silent side, that looks suspious"

Sheepeh, a few minutes later - "Can't post much, not near a computer. Not Evil"

Stupid Person A - "Fair enough then".

A little later

Clever Person B - "Ohh, Sheepeh has been on the silent side, that looks suspious"

Sheepeh, a few minutes later - "Can't post much, not near a computer. Not Evil"

Stupid Person B - "Fair enough then".
