If you honestly want the best pizzeria in London that I know of, it's in Finsbury Park, on the Stroud Green Rd. It's called La Porchetta. Take a run up there one weekend with the kid in tow - it's a proper Italian restaurant where they love kids and it's very noisy and lively. You may need to book. It's not swanky, but they are creeping down through London from there with more branches - to give you an idea of how successful it is. I've eaten at a few of their branches, but the original one is the best for both the food and the atmosphere.

Anybody who makes pizzas and feeds them to me is awesome. Unless they put anchovies on them, in which case, they're the devil incarnate, ruining such otherwise excellent food.

Were my login to 'break' I wouldn't then bother to check if it had ever started working again. Pizzas from pizza express cost about as much as pizzas in any other restaurant that's not exclusively a takeaway and are fucking awesome. How is it snobbish? It's awesome pizza on a plate in a restaurant with very bog-standard, unassuming tables and chairs.

The Pizza Express in Piccadilly Gardens in Manc is lovely. Friendly staff, nice view outside, pleasant pizza... "om" "nom" "nom", as they say.

Using both is the correct approach.

That's a relatively new one, along with Kro Metro or whatever the fuck they're calling each successive restaurant now.

I will admit the Pizza Express in Macclesfield is shite. I mystery shopped there once and it got a scathing report. I went a second time with the gf and it was just as bad. That's just a management problem and shouldn't detract from the awesomeness of the format.

If it was happy about it's 'meh' pizzas like Pizza Hut (if it still is, etc) is, there wouldn't be a problem. The food isn't bad, but it's not good, and certainly not as good as the clever marketing and branding makes people think it is.

They are thin and crispy and nice. And you can get ones with a fried egg on, or with parma ham. Yum yum. Though never buy the wine as it's cheap shit that they sell at massive profit that does your head in. GAH!

Anyway, the Pasta Hut thing is only a small subset of their outlets, and for only a month or two. I dunno that they're trying to be healthy so much as they're just trying to attract more custom. Could be worse, I personally love pasta, and would much rather have a take-away lasagne than a Big Mac.

I really like the 'Etna' pizza. It's a Pizza Express one, but in a brown rather than the blue box.

I'm blind to any 'marketing', and in fact haven't seen any, ever, from them. I don't give a toot what they think about themselves, for I am the judge. They can think they're shit for chavs or posh for lords, but as long as I can buy my awesome pizza for £8 then I don't overmuch care.

Nah, it's not the marketing and branding that makes me think the food's good, it's that I think it tastes quite nice. I do see your point, it is an attempt at making pizza seem classier than Pizza Hut etc, but that's irrelevant to me, as I also like Pizza Hut. Erm, and most other fast food chains. No wonder I'm so fucking fat.

Anyone who thinks that Pizza Express pizzas are not significantly better than Pizza Hut pizzas know nothing about pizza, and probably about food in general. They probably also order 'deep dish' pizzas, FFS!

I think it would be a tad extreme to assume I'd beat people up for failing to eat at Pizza Express. I could have said 'broken tongue', or similar, but that wouldn't have sounded as good to me.

Pizza Express have tv adverts? Since when? I've never seen one, and if it did it wouldn't compel me to go more or less than I currently do. I make a point of never reacting to any form of marketing. I think I'm one of the few people in the universe to not have some kind of fucking ipod/iphone/ishit, and I don't do Harry Potter either, which was one incredible piece of marketting.

As for the menus, I look at the ingredients list, and if I think it looks tasty, I might try it. It's not the special font or bold lettering that makes me buy it, though.

I do like dominos. I've had many a fat fucking time gorging on an entire large pizza on a BOGOF or something. They taste nice, but in a somewhat obvious, predictable way. Nothing compares to a P.E. Padana Romana though. It's that sweet onion that does it for me, it's fucking awesome.

Also the Noci intros are ace. Must remember to see if that can be bought seperately from somewhere.

And despite them being popular, there's actually nothing wrong with the iPod as a device (it's the best and most useful personal stereo I've ever had) or Harry Potter books (which I have read because I enjoy them).

Marketing can actually be useful to people, as it lets them know when something they like becomes available. Such as, ooooh, video games and movies.
