I don't think it matters about the awkward bugger. If we work out who it is we don't know where his allegiances lie.
The SK won't care, he wants to kill everyone
If there are any mafia left, they already know whether or not he's mafia
The cult still won't know if he's recruitable or not.
The town still won't know whether he's a good guy or a bad guy.

No one is going to admit to being in the cult (they'd be lynched straight away), and no one is going to admit to be the Awkward Bugger as they will get mod killed.

It's not a question of admitting it, we could probably work it out by investigating yesterdays posts. I just don't think it would tell us anything.
In fact, it wouldn't tell anybody anything.

Actually a very funny thought - what if the akward bugger was the first person to 5 votes himself :-)

This is quite logical, and indeed I was expecting to be greeted with a message telling me I was either dead or a convert. Neither happened - which I attribute to one or multiples of the following:

1) There are no more goons (doubtful)
2) The Cult leader assumed the goons would off me, so went for someone else
3) I was protected
4) The cult leader was roleblocked

You've not exactly been talkative yourself, GJ. :) Given that the thread said night time lasted until 6pm Saturday, they may not have checked back yet.

Fair enough to both points really. I'm sorry guys, it seems everytime I post something someone else throws up. :(

Well that's kind of implicit. There is only one person here who knows for sure anyone else's alignment, and that's whoever received a vision last night.

That's what they say the preview button is for, but yes, an option for "editing if the post is less than 5 minutes old" would be nice. Just to correct typos and tag formatting and stuff.

Right, as I don't see too much happening tonight, and I'm off to London in the morning and won't be back until Late Sunday, I suppose I should vote now. I think it's between Joans/Zaphod, and looking at who has voted for whom, I think I'm going to [vote:Zaphod69]

I will probably check this thread a bit between now and when I go to bed, and I might get a chance in the morning, but after that don't expect any chat from me for a while.

Hmm, I thought he was on 2 and I would make 3. I guess someone jumped from zaphod to sheepeh.

I would like us to get 2 candidates with several people baking both tho, and then we could hear from them both, maybe force a role claim again??! And see why people want theirs to swing. Mine's based on zaphod trying to hang himself yesterday. I think it was an attempt at a double bluff.

Zaphod actually voted for himself. He tried to sacrifice himself for someone who turned out to be a Goon.

Much like Craster has claimed, I wasn't converted last night.

Actually I very much expected to be dead after trying uber hard to kill the mafia guy yesterday, I felt sure Joans & co would take their revenge. Pretty reasonable assumption for the cult to make as well, which would explain my lack of recruitment. Why pick someone liable to die when there are loads of safer people to choose from?

I'm still hoping the Doc protected me and will continue to do so ;)

I see nothing much has moved along today. I'm not feeling any reason to lynch Sheepeh aside from being a bit quiet, particularly when we've got (Joans) loads of people (Joans) that spent yesterday defending Curio (Joans) to choose from (Joans).

So to summarise, vote Joans, if only to satisfy my conviction that he's mafia. If he's a townie he's a fucking weird one, I can tell you.

Please vote to lynch me people, and then you will achieve one of the following:
Wipe the smug fucking grin off Comical's face
Have Comical secretly rubbing his hands with glee because he's cult/SK and he's just got you to kill a townie.

Either outcome will be fine by me.

No smug grins here chap, but so far your defense has been 'vote for me and you'll be wrong', which isn't winning me over.

You had a fair few votes against you yesterday, and although people were unlikely to vote for you again once Curiosity was revealed as Mafia (although some people still did), it's not very mafia-like to take out someone that's been attracting so much attention the previous day. Of course, they may not have been able to take you out anyway.
As for the lack of cult recruitment, you're probably righ., I think if there were any goons left, you'd have been a good target for the mafia, and the cult leader needs to build up numbers with someone safe.

ComicalGnomes wrote:

Why he'd want to do that, only he knows, but it's his perogative.

After yesterdays post-fest, I'm glad it's been a bit quieter. Sheepeh usually plays a quiet game, regardless of his role, and the fact that he can't get near a pc all the time, will make him even quieter. That's not to say he's not a bad guy though.
I may have posted my reasons for defending Curiosity once or twice in the thread already. Suffice to say, that having a serial killer potentially on our side was a deal we could have done with. I did listen, and I did take into account that he could be mafia (I even said that SK was the only safe role he could claim, regardless of what he was), but I assumed he was one of many mafia, and that leaving him alive wouldn't make any difference to the number of kills that would happen. I was wrong, I said I was wrong, and I said I was sorry.

If it's not considered meta-data, feel free to look at the last few days of the last game. I feel I'm playing to the same style that I did there, the style of a determined, but perhaps misguided, townie. Of course, now you may feel free to suggest that I'm only acting that way.

Not really, my pc has gone to shit and I've spent most of the time browsing over slightly different motherboards to see what I should be buying. Hope you enjoyed the pub though. :luv:

I can't really offer much more of a defense can I?
If I really was mafia, I'd know who was and who wasn't, and I could just try and start a bandwagon against someone else.
If I was the SK, I'd want the lot of you dead, so the same again.
If I was in the cult, surprise, same again.

Of course, you seem quite determined to get me killed, so I guess you know who I am. :hat:

This game is rather infuriating. I could be doing an awesome impression of a bog standard townie, or I could actually be a bog standard townie. If I'm accused of being a master of manipulation or whatnot, this makes it more difficult to genuinely be a vanilla. Last time I honestly claimed to be a GCPD Cop, but wasn't readily believed.

Still Joans, look at it from my perspective. Curio was scum, and its safe to presume all other mafia weren't voting for him. The safest thing to do would be to try to spark a bandwagon with someone else rather than pitch random votes else where. For maximum impact all members of the mafia would have to go in on this, so like I said before, I reckon 80% of those who voted for me are scum. You were the most verbal in his defense, and you voted for me too. You're a prime suspect. If not you, then at least zaph, who I'd be willing to switch to if the vote goes that way.

Incidentally I think Craster is a pretty good candidate for either the SK or Cult leader.

SK for obvious reasons, being very sure that Curio was lying. Either highly perceptive (possible) or the SK himself. Cult leader is also a possibility because the main cult threats are death by SK and deathy by mafia. So once it was established Curio was at least either of these he'd really need to go.

'course, he could also just be a townie, but I'm going to be musing on that theory a bit more :hat:

without wanting to look like an uncommitted jumper, I see reasoning in Malcs "two party theory"and also the suggestions above.

So Im going to go back to [vote:Zaphod79] from earlier for the same reasons.
I think he is probably a more justifiable target than Sheepeh, whom I switched to test the annoying twat or whatever its called role.

Happy to go with Joans also for the above reasons if it looks like that could be a viable lynch.
Will check back in sometime Saturday afternoon / evening.

What do you think then Comical, do you want to get on the Zaphod bandwagon?

Clearly, I'm the craziest mafia member around, as firstly I decide not to kill anyone (to make you think we're all dead), and now I'm starting a bandwagon against a fellow goon.

Warning - Zaphod79 may not be a goon.
Warning - I may not be either.

My spidey sense now reckons that Zaph is the townie and you and Lace are the mafia in cahoots with the quick-succession of votes for Zaph on this quiet Friday night, hoping to spur me in the that direction too. Hmmmmmmm, etc.

Clearly I need to go to bed.

FWIW, I do believe Joans at this stage. He was stalwart in defence of Curio yesterday, but in a consistent fashion without dubious logic, sudden leaps, or over defensiveness. I'd look at these three before Joans, in decending order of suspiciousness:

Zaphod79
Runcle
Kalmar

I think the cult theory is interesting. Were you the leader, there's no way you'd recruit me as you too would have suspected my grisley death. *rubs big chin*

After we've popped one of these mafia suckers today I'll give this more thought ;)

Alright then, lets poke Zaph in the eye and see what kind of goo comes forth.

[Vote:Zaphod79]

I'd put Kalmar above Runcle in that list btw.

I would like us to get 2 candidates with several people baking both tho, and then we could hear from them both, maybe force a role claim again??! And see why people want theirs to swing. Mine's based on zaphod trying to hang himself yesterday. I think it was an attempt at a double bluff.

Malc

I've already role claimed my role yesterday - townie and i've already said today that for the town they should target one of the people who defended curio yesterday even if its just their own curiosity (sic) that the mafia are not all totally stupid and revealed themselves on day one (although i did vote for curio yesterday before the roleclaim)

I've also said today that I think Craster is the SK because its the only role (other than mafia) he could have that he would be *so* convinced that Curio was not the SK (if you are feeling very depressed you could go back through the pages of the argument yesterday and see that when he's challenged he comes back with conviction that it doesnt matter if its a good idea to keep the SK around or not because "He's not the SK")

After a number of times trying to stop the argument yesterday and get people to see that neither side was going to back down Craster posted a list of people he was convinced was mafia - I pushed him and he confirmed that if *any* of them were townies then he himself was wrong and should be killed (Have a look back on this on page 19 : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2091&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=540)

So as far as I was concerned I was calling his bluff with my post :

Zaphod79 wrote:
So your happy when the first of those thats dead thats not scum then we should keep curio around / and give the town an actual chance of winning.

Then change your vote to me and kill me , i'm a townie - i'm happy to watch this from the dead thead , and it will save what i see as one of the towns few chances of winning.

So after killing me - you and CG can be next on the block while Curio can actually try and help the town - the chances of the town winning otherwise are very little and i'm playing to my win condition by doing what i can to help the town.

I stick by that - i was doing what i could to save the town - my mistake was that I believed Curio was the SK.

One question I've got that i've not seen answered is if i was Mafia why would i want to sacrifice myself for Curio ?
If people did call my bluff yesterday then I would have been lynched and found to be mafia - the very next day I see no reason why everyone would not just immediately vote for Curio since it would have been proven that the mafia were trying to defend him ?

Only other point I would say is the only people who know i'm *not* mafia are the mafia themselves and they will be quite happy for the town to Lynch a townie.

Im not sure on zaphod being a baddie to be honest, mainly because I was in the smae stance as him yesterday. I really think the mafia would have been quiet yesterday, and I also one or two may have voted for curiosity to look innocent when it comes to times like this, again another mafia tactic. I know sheepeh looks suspicious for this but theres always been a habit for townies to put the final stake in to see whats happens so Im not too sure on voting for him either.

For me I think we should look for curiosity voters and also quiet ones, so someone from:

Bluecup
Mr Russ
Squirt

Some reason bluecup has stood out more than most to me for some reason, although I think squirt has been very quiet aswell. Also mr russ is being ordinary again which surely means trouble in some kind of way, although its probably me being in habit, lets hang the bastard.

Vote Update

joans: 1 vote (gazchap)
kalmar: 1 vote (dudley)
sheepeh: 5 votes (bluecup, kalmar, mr russ, zaphod79, zardoz)
zaphod79: 5 votes (comicalgnomes, craster, joans, lacesensor, spinglo sponglo!)

Not voted: bobbyaro, goddess jasmine, mrak, runcle, sheepeh, squirt

With 18 players alive, 10 votes are required for a lynch and 14 votes for there to be no lynch.

You're probably right, Zaph could well be a townie.

I realise your brain is going to process this as an elaborate bit of trickery designed to sew doubt in people's minds, but do you think that if I really knew that Curiosity was mafia (i.e. I was his mafia buddy), that I'd have argued not to lynch him that much, thus drawing so much suspicion on to me?
