The small town of Beexle sits at the foot of a volcano, Mt Beteo. No one currently living there had thought of it as dangerous as it hadn't blown its top for many generations. The town, although small, had been infiltrated over the last few months by a small gang of organised criminals. This had been kept mainly in check by the town's excellent police force, but had become been a worry to a number of townsfolk. The recent arrival of a strange cultist didn't help to allay the uneasiness felt throughout the town. Thank heavens for the police!

Unfortunately, Mt Beteo had started grumbling. Some townspeople heeded the warnings and fled immediately, taking their young children and the clothes on their backs; others stayed and said that God would protect them - it was their right to live by the volcano, after all. When it finally blew, there were still 40 members of the town left - once the carnage had been wreaked, only 20 remained. Curiosity and kalmar ran to the police station to get aid, but where it had been was now just a smoking hole - the town was in anarchy!

Oh Lord, why hast thou forsaken us?

Although, to be fair, we've only got ourselves to blame. Or no, those swarthy well-connected types, I blame them.

20 of us, and there are potentially 7 non-townies (5 maf, 1 SK, 1 Cult) and that can grow once per night.

We have no Cop

We have two investigative roles that confuse the fuck out of me, but appear to be a hippy and a pervert.

I think the other roles are fairly minor in impact, though the terrorist is obviously something of a wildcard.

I don't know. I was talking to Cassandra. Oh, she's very embittered, you know. Very embittered. You've seen the ring she had on? Well, allegedly, that was given to her by her fiancé when she was eighteen, and he jilted her, and she hasn't had it off since! Poor dear!

Terrorist is a bit weird. I can't see a reason for blowing yourself up unless you're completely certain someone has targetted you, which seems unlikely. Why risk blowing yourself up for nothing? My prediction: it won't be used.

Nope - it's just that's the point at which not wanting to die usually gets replaced with wanting to do something exciting.

Yeah, the terrorist does seem a bit of an odd role, especially given the backstory that we're all survivors of an almighty volcanic eruption.

So we have up to 7 (or is it 8? Do we have a max of 4 goons, a roleblocker and a doctor/trrrist + culty and SK?) but possibly as low as 4 bad guys/girls.

I doubt we'll have either the max or the min, so let's call it 6 for the sake of argument.

So we're far more likely to lynch a good guy than a bad guy, as always seems the way at the start of games.

However, this time we don't have much in the way of a guaranteed power role for the town. If we have a doctor then that's nice, but there's no cop or investigator for him/her to protect. Equally, if we have the trrrrist then, well, they can maybe get a bad guy when they're in the firing line, but it's a risky shot and to be honest, not a great deal of use to us.

Which leaves us with the seer and the CCTV chappie. They can potentially give us some good info, but can also potentially tell us eff all for a good period of time if we're unlucky.

Which brings me to our SK. He's actually our best friend now, as townies, because he's the only person who can get rid of the Mafia and the Cultist(s). Unfortunately, at the moment he only has the same chance as us of hitting the mark.

So, do we wait for potential info that might never come, and allow the Mafia, SK and Cult to whittle us down (whilst hoping they whittle each other down)? Or do we decide that with the lack of guaranteed info down the line we had better strike out at anyone and hope we get it right?

I'd be inclined that we should lynch someone, as otherwise we're waiting on info we might never receive... but I'm worried that the Mafia might lead us away via strategic stalling and block voting to lynch someone innocent.

What does everyone think?

The town has no-one that's indispensible, so I see no reason not to go for a lynch.

Your continued silence speaks volumes Craster.

No doubt you're weaving a tall tale to shift the spotlight from yourself.

I think we need to get to about day 3/4 before we "know" anything, the first 2 or 3 days are just wild stabbing in the dark.

So, I've just got back from the pub to find that not only do I live by a volcano, but it's erupted. :(

Let's see if I've got this right:
The town has no killing roles other than lynching - therefore (as has already been said), the SK is potentially our friend
Anyone that roleclaims is an obvious target for the cult, so should be lynched immediately (hello game 2)
That's all I've got so far, sorry.

You're obviously being far too helpful, and are thusly scum. We should all stand around and not discuss the situation; it's the only way we can be sure!

Your post just seemed to be trying too hard, like you've got something to hide. Craster and Joans', not so much.

But there's plenty of time left in the day for contemplation, so don't sweat it.
