One hot July a few years ago I suddenly noticed the huge ‘Merry Christmas!’ banner we still had handing in the living room and somehow didn’t pay any attention to for seven months.

We took ours down in New Year’s eve, though D has decided he’s keeping his tree up until June 25th

Correct. Usually the first available day after New Year is when they come down. Which is annoying when it falls on a Monday

All ours were put away yesterday. Tricky getting the trees back in their boxes.

Well that was sort of the problem. The next day we had plans to go out and then school and work started back up (and we put that time aside to take down the MEGA TREE). But really I don’t have many New Years ‘things’ but one thing I do like (if I have my choice) is a nice clean, empty space. It makes me feel more hopefully and like there is opportunity in that extra bit of room once the decorations are down. But if D said he wanted to keep them up until later, I would. As it is he just wants to keep his own tree up, so that works for the both of us :D

Spiderman had finished halting runaway subway trains for long enough to lend Mali a hand, that's great.

This is my bird tree. Since we moved we’ve always had it in the front porch, but now that we’ve got a bit more space in the dining room after selling the sideboard I’ve moved it into there. This displays my collection of bird ornaments. I hope to get an ornament or two to add to
It this year, as I have always added at least one, but haven’t found any this year. My ma usually sends one (which is pretty good of her as she has a very bad phobia of birds).

I second this. It’s a great film. I didn’t realise you meant you hadn’t seen it before! I think we might watch it with D this year.

Oh my. I didn't realise with all the films you were ploughing through you'd not seen Christmas Vacation.

I imagine it might be one where suddenly a lot of references in other places suddenly make sense

You can see the whole tree if you view in a new tab. Looks great. I like the ornament that looks like a chain of monster munch.

The tree is too tall to put our normal star on top.

I think it was five gold rings, but one fell off. Maybe eaten

I was going to get a model train to go around the bottom of the Christmas tree. After looking at the different scale models, and the tree, I realised I would need HO HO HO gauge.

Oh, man! Metalangel. Funny seeing his name. We originally had a terrible introduction on the Stu forum but made up quickly and were pretty cool after that. I hope he's alright wherever he is

Mrs. Blucey put up the tree yesterday. It's very much her thing except that my Santa decoration (that I've had my whole life) then has to get pride of place in the best spot.

We have put up our decorations.

This is what we call the ‘mega tree’ and Russell has Griswalded it up with a family of three light up deer that move.

There’s also a tree in the porch (the ‘bird tree’, which is decorated just with bird ornaments, and a tree in Darwin’s room which looks kind of great. I should try to get a picture of that one.
