It's ok. It's Cornwall. The old fella who checks the tickets only comes round once a day and only if it isn't raining

Which it probably is

A single first class stamp to post a letter is ONE POUND AND SIXTY FIVE PENCE.

Mind blown.

I remember the scandal when they went up to 36p.

That might be a false memory though.

Took me a while to notice that, but my attention was really drawn to the 2 curries, 2 sides and 4 drinks advert - that's not bad for eight quid!

It's not bad at all! Though I've never eaten a coop curry so couldn't speak to its quality

They did something similar with Pizza and Beer during the Euros, my family thoroughly enjoyed the pizzas. When I worked out the value then, the beers were essentially free.

Batshed just doesn't have the same ring to it as Batcave.

Not sure you've made the best decision there, Batman.

CoOp is quite expensive. There's a Lidl equidistant so I often go there instead.

I live in a village with suburbs masquerading as a town, so I have 6 choices (within sensible walking distance, there is a Giant Tesco about an hours walk away, most of which is on the side of a dual carriage way)

Medium Sized Co-op
Tesco Metro
Poundland
Small Co-op
Morrisons Mini (corner shop sized)
Shell Garage

So, unplanned shopping is usually done in either Co-op or Tesco

They are trying to build an Aldi, but there are massive arguments about the impact on the roads and parking spaces, so it's still at the planning stage.

that's actually quite robust, detailed reporting by Worcester news' standards.

A coop curry sounds like a curry made with eggs.

It's gone to shit. Elon is a fuckwit and ruined it. I got totally fed up of all the nonsense, which is why I hardly ever even look at X now.

I never posted much on there, but now I have Mastodon and Bluesky accounts and don't post much on there either of them, but the accounts are there if I need them.

Is Donald Trump back on Twitter now? With Elonely being made some kind of efficiency tsar in Trump’s line-up of lackeys I can’t imagine how much worse that place is going to get.

I left all large scale social media a month or two ago. Can’t remember when it was, actually. But I deleted Threads, IG, FB (which I never used anyway) etc. Bluesky is still on my phone, but I’m not logged in at the moment. I will probably go back at some point, probably to IG to post some Christmas pictures, etc, but I realised it was affecting my mental health so I’m on a break. It was easy, though. I felt literally no pull to return after the day I deleted the apps.

Yeah I'm done with Twitter too. I can't support something Musk owns.

My main account has been dormant for a while. The account for my PlayStation game review site still autoposts on there but I've stopped posting on there as a person.

The annoying thing was that I had a bot account that I made that used to create Noel Fielding jokes (he's essentially the worst comedian of all time and so I was setting out to prove it) but then they got rid of all those bot features. That should have been auto-tweeting every day until the end of Twitter.

I deleted my Facebook account years ago. Never bothered much with IG (my site has one but I rarely ever use it). I use Reddit a little but I'm trying to curate that to just specific content rather than get involved in big social discussions.

Forums are definitely the better alternative.

Where’s the best place to look for a 2x1m offcut of flooring vinyl?

I tried Facebook Marketplace and that… didn’t go well.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
seller wanted us to drive to Dudley and then text her when we were in Dudley for the actual full address.I said I didn’t want to drive all the way to Dudley without an address in case she didn’t answer that message. She said she wouldn’t give her address to people as she’s had time-wasters in the past. I can kinda see why. They’re probably still circulating around the Dudley streets until today. I do understand being cautious, but if you’re going to sell items that require collection it’s difficult if you don’t tell people where they’d be collecting from.

I know I’ve seen big racks of vinyl flooring rolls and offcuts outside shops before, but I can’t for the life of my think what those shops were, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the flooring place.

Local type carpet shops rather than a big chain will usually do vinyl floors as well, I'd try one of those.

Ironically there is a shop in Dudley that has a load of these off cuts outside for sale.

I’ve been making Mimi Soup* regularly now for 5 years.

Batch currently on I’ve switched out the onions for shallots and used smoked garlic.

*Red lentil & Harissa.

Niiiiiiice. Shallots is a great choice. Those babies will melt into gorgeousness. Smoked garlic is lovely, too. Our supermarket used to stock it quite regularly but I’ve not seen it of late. I shall have to check again next time we go in (well, actually, I bought a net of 25 bulbs of garlic recently and should probably use some of those first)

HOLD UP, STOP THE PRESS

What? For reals? I thought that was a myth (or extremely extremely unlikely). Swans are bastards though, and I remember one in France when we were on a family holiday, it was particularly pushy trying to barge in on our lovely picnic by the lac. Luckily we dissuaded it by throwing a frisbee at it's head.

Actually I also know someone who had arm broken by a swan. Ish. My cousins and I were bike riding when one of my cousins went off ahead. A swan came tearing at him as he was cycling along a narrow path and chased him off to one side where he fell down an embankment and broke his arm and then fainted. Or maybe that was the other way around. We couldn’t see him down there and rode right by him twice, looking for him.
