Definetly worth picking up now before the end of the 'Days of Play' sale (today) however you could have knocked another tenner off that

I remember playing a pirated copy of PoP:SoT when it came out and it was fucking excellent, and (as I was telling Jem last night) was the first time a game’s story made me cry.

Turns out it’s still just as good, and (some quirks aside) works brilliantly on the Steam Deck… which considering that the game pre-dates Steam* is quite impressive.

* almost, Steam was released a month before the game, but of course the game would have been in development long before Steam’s release so it still counts ;)

So you wait years for something interesting to be released and in the course of a couple of months we get the System Shock Remake, Jagged Alliance 3 (JA2 and XCom had a murder baby armed with grenades) and Baldur's Gate 3...these are strange times we live in.

I put 55 hours into Act 1 (of three) and am currently taking a break, I intend to return to it but I'll probably start again now I understand it all a bit more. (Currently on a playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 now the V2.0 update has released.)

It's clearly a magnificent game, I knew going in it that it wasn't entirely my cup of tea genre wise, but it manages to transcend that fact to still have charmed me. Everything about it is wonderfully put together, and the writing/acting is consistently superb.

If it's a genre you enjoy then this is dream come true material I'd imagine, for me it's a bit too much into 'proper' RPG territory, which isn't a criticism, just a personal taste thing.

I'm playing on PC but by all accounts the PS5 has a superb version of the game with the controls ported to a gamepad very well, so you won't be missing out on anything there.

I knocked it down to EASY level because I was finding the combat a bit frustrating, there are millions of spells to choose from and you're supposed to have your party buffing each other and that sort of thing, it's turn based so there are no time pressures, I just thought it was a bit fiddly and wanted to hit things over the head until they died, which EASY kind of lets you get away with, but then I knew it was basically letting me win and I wasn't doing it properly.

Also if you take all the clothes off the characters you can see all their bits and pieces.

<24.28> Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 (one of the best videogames ever) from GOG for PC.

I'm still doing side content in the main game, although I have also now started the campaign in the expansion.

This playtime is from a single playthrough.

I bought Mrs Hearthly a new gaming PC for our 25th wedding anniversary/her 50th birthday (they were within a few weeks of each other), a less gentlemanly Wongawatch participant than myself would add that onto the thread as it is a household gaming spend.
