There’s something in the delivery style of John Oliver, David Baddiel and Tom Scott that just makes me recoil. Stop shouting. Nothing you are saying is that sensational and you shouldn’t replace content with volume.

Weird - if you asked me I'd have said that i had *something* that was called Snesticle in the early emulation days (I definetly remember Nesticle) , but i guess just a hazy memory

The waypoint article has a bit more background on this :

I thought this project might be of interest to some of you. It's a 3D modelled arcade that you can walk around and play any game you want, it has both videogames and fruit machines in it.

App that lets you save articles for later to read offline. But seems to (usually) pull in entire new Yorker articles, even if the New Yorker is asking you to sign up.

Two other sites which will bypass are :

https://12ft.io/

Which seems to have weird arrangements to not unblock some companies sites

and

https://www.printfriendly.com/

Which just gives you just about any webpage as a PDF and again bypasses most paywalls

Arcade Archive near Stroud opened today, so I stuck my head round the door while visiting The Cave in the same building.
It’s small, but perfectly formed and the machines are all in amazing condition.

That's written by Craig Turner, the same guy who runs the Revival events.

He's the kind of guy who wouldn't bother using 3 words when several hundred would do.

Nice... I'll look forward to reading this. I've recently printed out a map and tried to complete Pitfall 2 but it's so hard. I just haven't got the patience.

I could do the first cave but never finished the second , the advantage is there is no death in the game , it just keeps going and returns you to the last checkpoint.

The *hard* bit on the first cave is the hidden balloon you need to get which is on one of the levels with bats , if you wait for them to go past a few times the bottom one turns into a balloon you take to the top of that part of the cavern (but i'm sure your map will show you that) good luck.

And after reading the article I have the music for the game going round in my head all afternoon

So anybody played the new F-Zero 99 that popped onto the Nintendo Online thingy two weeks ago? I have, and I think it's pretty great despite me being a bit rubbish at racing games and terrified of looking awful in front of large groups of people. It's really clean and zippy and the music is great, and all the menu screens look incredibly charming and I love my little green car that looks like a Henry's Hoover with a couple of fins attached.

For those not in the know the basic mode is 99 people online race a course. You can boost but the boost drains your health bar, though parts of the track bring your energy back up. You can spin-attack into other cars and this damages them very slightly - and if you 'K.O!' another car that's mortally wounded (you can see bits of smoke coming out it) then it restores all your health and fills your boost bar. The ultimate victory is to be number 1 crossing the line, but to make up for 98 disappointed faces it also gives you a goal to beat four rivals it chooses for you in the race.

It's immense fun and I blasted away an hour on it before I knew what had happened. My top placing so far is 47 - still a long way to go!

(Uh, thought it should be this thread as an old game re-made and refreshed, but shrug.)

Unless my memory is letting me down, I can still remember the music from the Spectrum version, as well as the way when you got killed, the game dragged you back to your last checkpoint (while the music relentlessly carried on).

I think I only bought it because I liked the look of the original Pitfall (which I'm still not sure I've ever played), but it didn't really scratch that itch.

Oh right, should probably point out I'm talking about Pitfall II.
