Will keep an eye out for a diplodocus neck, definitely.

I think there may have been two real paintings in my town today, going by the link Dimrill posted, and there was no info on the giant head statue, though I’d say the carving was different from the actual
Work it was based on in that the headdress had a scalloped edge not present in the real one.

I’ve just seen in the guide that there is a recipe for a colossal door plate, so if anyone just happens to stumble on that re I’ve please let me know and I will gather materials as I just would really love it for my house.

Couldn't sleep, so had a bit of an early session on this instead. Got the bigger shop and bigger house now. KK Slider did his thing this morning too, so at least I have the island designer now so I can hopefully put some paths down soon. I'll leave the gate open this morning while I work.

I quite liked the look of the diner-style table, but it doesn't really go with my other stuff.

It’s kingsday in NL. Little celebration on my island since we can’t go
Outside. I changed the flag and made the town song a version of our anthem

I don't know if you can still do that if you have bought one on your own island but that would also be interesting to know

mimi I hope you are feeling better

mimi and dimrill, which fossils are left now?

I have to wait my turn to play on the switch as steve an Katie are playing minecraft...

Oh, Rick, your music editor is different to mine. Ours don’t have do-re-mi, rather the A-G scale! Enjoy your celebrations!

@Miki These are the ones I’m missing are:
Ankylo torso/tail

Ophalmo torso whoop! Thank you Miki!

Dimrill is after these, I believe:

Archaeopteryx
Ankylo Torso

I didn’t start a trading a trading post thread in the end as there didn’t seem to be much interest, but if others would find it useful at any time we can do that.

Here’s my editor. I wonder why the difference? I assume it’s part of regionalisation, but I’d have thought that would be consistent to Europe.

That’s the Totoro theme, BTW.

I don't know if you saw the eurogamer piece I retweeted yesterday but yeah, it looks like they've turned down spawn rates for all of the 'good' bugs :S

I thought I was getting more Agrias and Rajah Brooke’s this morning, but maybe that’s just relative. It’s been raining in my town the last few days, but it’s sunny today and I’ve not seen a single Peacock this morning.

I’ve just had a look back over Twitter to find this, and goodness me, the rate on a few have been tweaked, sure, but the peacock butterflies have been completely nuked.

Miki you're a wonder! One fossil left to go.

My duplicates today:
Brachio Chest
Iguanadon Torse
Ammonite - Sent to Meemlebops.
Tricera Skull

if anyone wants em. Leif is also in town today again, so if anyone wants to pop over to grab Hibiscus sprouts, rose or cosmos seeds I can open my gates.

Sorry, I’m not too well at the moment. I *am* eventually after another ammonite, but I don’t NEED one. I have one in my museum, one outside on a plinth decorating the outer museum part, and I’d like one final one for inside my house (to go with my couple of trilobites) but obviously everyone else should be fully ammonited up before I put my hand up. Also after a fossil door plate if anyone comes across that recipe.

I can’t see people’s signatures, thoigh, as I’m on mobile version :s I cant navigate on mobile with the full site version. I can’t see a way to show digs on mobile skin.

So friends, please talk to me of bamboo, because I think it works slightly differently to what I remember in this game. I seem to remember it just spreading everywhere previously.

From what I understand in this game you bury a shoot, and it grows an adult bamboo which produces ONE and only one shoot, and then no further shoots? So if I bury eight bamboo shoots I will only get eight bamboo shoots from it, is that right?

I know you can harvest bamboo pieces (and spring bamboo pieces in spring months) with a stone axe (each day?), but I’m confused as to how you get more shoots?

Also, how much space do you need to give planted bamboo? Is there a particular pattern that you should plant for access/harvesting/space saving? I’ve looked fit online guides but it seems to be an area where there is little information.

I get shoots from Nook Miles Islands and the little snot nosed pig that sells turnips gives me 3 each week.

Nah - Solfege is more typically used in Europe, not really the case here, makes sense they'd localise it as such.

Not sure, will need to check in a bit.

re: bamboo - my adult bamboo seems to spawn little baby bamboos in holes but I've not really noticed whether it's just once per plant or what. Seems to need the same amount of space around it as a regular tree (which is annoying, because I wanted to pack the little bamboo hill I have with it, but can't)

Thanks for the bamboo Info, Jem and Dimrill. I didn’t know that Daisy Mae gave bamboo. I wonder if you have to buy over a certain number of turnips? I’ve not bought any yet, or I think I did the first week. I need to buy ten next week to get my ant, anyway.

I have had bamboo planted for ages, they dont give oodles of shoots, maybe not even one each yet, and the shoots look like the stars for a fossil so they dont self seed. steve laughed when I planted them and said they would cover the island but thankfully not

I have a fishing question, I still haven't caught some of the big fish that are near a pier
does the place where the water boat sits on a nook mile island qualify as a pier?
or is that a waste of my fish bate?
I've never caught a really big fish on my home island but have caught oarfish on nook miles island so I thought my chances might be better there

Yep, anything woody counts. I found it a pain to get the fish to spawn on my island, but after realising that the Nook Miles island with the hybrid flowers on can only spawn large fish, taking 40 baits to that caught me a lot of them.

I usually catch about two big fish per 30 baits off of my pier. I stand right on the end, throw them in and fish from there. I have about ten each of tuna and marlin, and six coelacanth waiting for Chip, though I’ve not seen an oarfish in a while now, but that might all be a case of good luck like Jem’s gold rush. It does help that Darwin loves to run up and down the beach digging up clams and crafting bait, so I can go fishing when I fancy :D

Thank you DM for the bamboo shoots! I have planted myself a little bamboo area up past my gardens, where my little stone arch was. I think it’ll look really pretty when the bamboo grows in. I was going to make a regimented farm, but I just planted them about the place to look pretty in the end, as I’m less worried about them spreading about the whole island now, as I remember that happening once before :D

It was fortunate timing - you were posting about bamboo as I was in the middle of hacking up a bamboo island :D

For fishing, I find finding clams and crafting bait too time-consuming. I'd rather just wander up and down the beach catching fish and hoping one pops up by the pier from time to time. It does help that I find the fishing bit relaxing though.

I do enjoy the fishing, but then I feel the need to be frugal and want to save all the fish for CJ and then people who visit my island are in shock at my fish stockpiles and the game actually lags when I walk there :DD

I tend to just save the really big ones, red snappers and barred knifejaws and pop them in storage.

Oh, Rick, your music editor is different to mine. Ours don’t have do-re-mi, rather the A-G scale! Enjoy your celebrations!

A interesting.. .actually had to look up how to remap a-g to doremi;)

in other news, the variant statue i bought was fake, which surprised me since the rest were clearly fake too...

On the fish thing, did you guys get the golden trout yet... i tried a lot, but now think i might have to get the 100 fish in a row achievement first, since in the book it says 'unlock 100' but if the means you have to have fished >100 fish in total (peanuts) not sure

I don't know the item I bought will reappear later for others or they are just one-offs?

Gate is open all morning (assuming there are no broadband problems today as there were with Virgin Media at times yesterday)
