Twice over the last month or so I’ve had an Origin popup message telling me I’ve gone into offline mode as I’m not allowed to be logged into multiple PCs at the same time. Each time I’ve changed my Origin password just in case.

So, I get an email this morning saying I’ve purchased a one-month non-recurring sub to EA Access. So I immediately log in, change my password AGAIN and remove my linked payment method (PayPal). I check my purchase history in order to make a fraud claim but there’s nothing in there for the last three months…

I go to use live chat but there’s a 122-minute wait and the option to call them was not available.

So, I do some digging. After reading their own forums it seems they’ve given me a free month, but why do it like this? It definitely gave me the impression my account had been hacked. No other emails saying ENJOY YOUR FREE MONTH or anything else. Very poor show.

Seems I’m not the only one:

Mine has been hijacked once by a Russian who changed my name and the language to Russian so it was a right cunt putting it back. Since then it's had three attempts.

Obviously it's very easy for people to find your account details. I had to tag all of the fucking traffic lights in Russian ffs. Google translate FTW.

I also got the email and wondered if my account had been got at, so of course I did nothing about it. I think it’s really odd that they’d word it this way if they’re doing it for everyone, why not just send an email saying they’d put a free month on?

I know I shouldn't, and having an account hijacked is no laughing matter, but the thought of having to work it all out in Russian did make me chuckle a bit, top trolling there.
