Hey folks, quick heads up. The kindly Lord Rixondale alerted me to a BBC radio adaptation of Nigel Kneale's lost 1960's masterpiece The Road. It features Mark Gattis among others and the original lost tape is pretty much the Holy Grail of carelessly wiped BBC tapes for me. Whilst the original production hasn't surfaced the new adaptation is everything I could have hoped it to be, and retains a real power to send shivers down the spine. It's a spooky tale, fit for Halloween, but there's nothing cosy about it. Indeed, the punch it delivers at the end has me worrying about having a slumber free of nightmares. :o

I won't spoil the true nature of The Road, but I do recommend you all to give it a try. It's on the Beeb website and can be reached here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0000y1d

What's remarkable is how modern it feels, especially the sound effects which are the originals created by the Radiophonic workshop. I strongly recommend it. Anyone who wants to chit-chat having heard it please spoiler text. Ta!
