I find it funny that people I know now call me ApplePie on Live. Probably so that other people on the team know who they are talking to, but I don't realise this as I am on friends only chat.

It's always started a bit odd being called 'Zio' on the few Beex meets I've been to, especially since different people seem to have different ways of pronouncing it to what I do. But then my name is so common that it's not unusual to find at least 3 other blokes with it everywhere I go, so at least if I'm referred to by my forum name I know I'm being spoken to.

Also, obviously I'm not bipolar, but coming off the Citalopram/Prozac was wonderful, and I'd heartily recommend it to all. Takes fucking ages before you start feeling normal again though. I'd say it took me a good eight months or so of not taking anything before it properly felt like normality was restored in me noggin.

Edit: All who take such drugs, obviously. I wouldn't recommend starting it just to then try coming off again.

This is what you get for pilfering names from old Japanese RPGs I guess.

Timing is of the essence to me. I have to make sure I take the right thing at the right time. I can not 'live' on any of them because if I'm not careful and take the wrong thing at the wrong time it fucks me. I think it's because of my clean diet and sensitivity to meds.

If I wake up and I'm so manic I can't even think I will take Risperidone. But that will simply put me to sleep within an hour and that'll be all she wrote for an entire day. I don't like living like that but it's a nice last resort to have. If I take Sertraline 'permanently' it simply stops working. Both offer pretty nasty side effects that I won't go into but I will say neither are pleasant.

What's odd is if I get all my timings right and take the right meds at the right times I almost, almost feel normal. Which is nice.

I'm absolutely certain now that I rapid cycle. Because of that I simply take what meds I need as I need them, which sort of works well for me because the depression doesn't last too long.

Today I woke up and shortly after saying good morning I was crying for no reason at all. Within 30 mins I had steamed up my glasses and had a puddle of salty tear water on the desk. Thankfully the SSRI has now completely fucking zapped my brain and I can't concentrate on anything, much less being miserable. I'm just bleurgh.

Thankfully I knew it was coming. I didn't see it myself, my pal on skype asked me what the noise I was making was as it was annoying him. Then I realised I was sucking air through my teeth and realised I was tense. This was last night. I woke up no less than eight times in the night and felt my back stiffening to the point that I was out of bed at 9am after about four hours of sleep. Dizzy, emotional and absolutely fucking exhausted. Down to the coffee machine, put on a smile and go about my day.

But if I start taking my SSRI every single day they simply stop working. And if I take them when I'm hyper I feel like I want to rip out of my skin. And if I accidentally take Risperidone when I'm depressed I will sit with my head in my hands all day crying and end up sobbing myself to sleep like a kid does when his mother smacks him.

All of which utterly fucking sucks. Thus, I am absolutely determined to at least try being happy.

I speak as someone who is in no way a medical professional. But Citalopram did funny things to my brain. Stopping taking Citalopram did even more funny things to my brain. It occurs to me that taking drugs that do funny things to one's brain may not necessarily be such a great way to fix problems with one's brain. Possibly.

I was on Citalopram for a while. It didn't agree with me at all. Unfortunately the side effects of withdrawing were the same as the ones I got from taking it, which confused me no end (and left my entire body itching furiously).

I'm now on Sertraline, which works, apart from leaving my legs jiggling for about half of the day at random intervals. But I forgot to bring in a new pack for work today, so today is sucking (well, it's sucking for many reasons, but that doesn't help!).

The two main side effects I had from Citalopram withdrawal were FURIOUS ANGER at very silly little things and a peculiar 'electric shock' thing that I could occasionally feel inside my skull. It wasn't a great deal of fun in retrospect.

Now though, now I have none of these things, I feel great! I'm increasingly finding that the occasional drop of London Pride does an excellent job of cheering up a shitty day.

It means they're going steady. You get one button per 'base'.

Horses for courses with that. I was given it when I got home and within three days I was suicidal and had to stop taking it. However a friend of mine swears by it. Personally I take Sertraline, which is a yank drug. However, it must be expensive because my doc will happily hand it over but all of the shrinks I have seen want to take it away even though I have told them it's the only thing that will aid my depression.

I've even been told that I wasn't taking enough of it by a shrink but my doc got mega annoyed and said "how can they tell you what works for you?" which was excellent.

It's taken me 9 years now to find a 'system' that's about as good as it is going to get. I no longer take what they give me because I know how I feel inside and out of all the pills I have popped the ones I have now are about as good as it gets. Thankfully I can take them together, too. The only thing I have had to sacrifice are givey up smokey pills as apparently if I took them I would need to be sectioned and my super duper opiate painkillers. But I can live with pain tbh for even a couple of day's worth of a normal brain.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of telling a British shrink that I was diagnosed bipolar by an American. Which has set off almost a competition to prove the yanks wrong. Thus, I have been sent to a ADHD specialist who is refusing to see my depression and only wants to focus on treating my mania, which he mistakes for ADHD.

I'm pretty open to suggestions. To me it doesn't matter what I am labelled as long as I get the right drugs. But being diagnosed and treated for ADHD has had me close to suicide now on many occasion and each time I have ended up at my local docs crying on my hands and knees begging for a subscription of Sertraline to pull me out of a funk. So tbh? I think I will take the yank opinion on what's wrong with me (aswell as accepting that I have heavy autistic tendencies) because it seems to be about right. And the drugs for Bipolar seem to be about right.
